ShadowFade at logout

ShadowFade at logout

Minimum required   KDE 3.3.x

Submitted:  Feb 10 2005
Updated:  Feb 18 2005

Description:

After you didn't really like my last logout-effect (the XPish one) I wrote a cool mixture of the native KDE-logout-effect and the XPish-grayfade-effect. That means when clicking at logout, something like a shadow is falling over your desktop. Looks really cool and is damn fast! (this is why I didn't implement inline-MMX-assembly)

Hope you enjoy it!

Addition: I had also another idea for logout-effect: I'd like it, if the desktop would be blurred until it's completely unsharp after 5 seconds or so. The problem is, that a smooth blurring isn't practicable even on modern CPUs...

Changelog:

0.3
- added KPixmapIO as class-member, so that there have to be no local/temporary instances every time, the screen is updated -> small speed improvement

0.2
- upload of working patch... :-)
- code-cleanup
- small speed-improvements
- increased fade-out-time to 5 seconds (were 4 seconds before)

0.1
- first release

sorry, the problem is, that afterwards I removed one line out of patch (unneccessary include-file), so it doesn't work... will fix that very soon...

 patch is broken

Hi!

I do like to afde effect but unfortunately the patch is broken. I get the same error as the first poster here. So I did apply the patch manually and did create a new one. My patch is for KDE 3.3.2 latest cooker version. So you might encounter some fuzz when applying this one

 KDE 3.3.2 Gentoo?

I can't apply any of these patches. The edited patch can't even be opened with kompare.

BTW does anyone know how I can apply this under Gentoo in an easy way?

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
