 Help needed!

If anyone could help me fixing one thing: some users report that the "Select WEP Key" dialog pops up more then once. Is this a Qt bug? Even simple code:
QDialog* dlg = new QDialog()
dlg->exec()
generates a dialog that pops up the second time after being closed once! Can anyone halp me work around this problem? Thx!

Hi! Thx for replying!
It's in wlassistant.cpp, starting in line 485. It's strange, because only SOME people seem to have this problem...
Cheers.

 good progress

I like your way to continuously bring up new and better versions.

Some things that did work before, but don't in this version are:

1. my iwlist/iwconfig shows this error message above each output, but this can be changed by redirecting the sterr output to /dev/null:

Warning: Driver for device eth2 has been compiled with version 17
of Wireless Extension, while this program supports up to version 16.
Some things may be broken...

Unfortunately a /sbin/iwlist 2> /dev/null doesn't work in the settings, so I had to write a wrapper script that does it for me.

2. Besides the essid column, no one can be resized.

3. Programm still reports mode: Master instead of mode: Managed with orinoco_cs module. iwconfig output is ok, so how do you obtain the mode?

I hope you can fix these things. Everything else is just what I needed :)

Thanks for feedback! It's always good to know what's wrong... :)

AD1: This is probably due to the newly implemented error capturing. Hm... Will change it to ignore warnings in some cases.

AD2: Yup, you are completely right. My mistake in the changelog.

AD3: The app gets net modes from iwlist [iface] scanning. Had similar problems with madwifi driver so I implemented a workaround. If it's the case with orinoco driver as well - will do the same thing.

Hopefully these problems will be fixed in the next release.

 dhclient

is it possible to add dhclient to this as an alternative to dhcpcd so debian distributions like kubuntu can use this great program.

Yes dhclient would be very nice because I use Fedora.

Any way your work seems very good.

And wat about switching also between wireless lans and wired ones?

Hi
Can you tell me whether it is possible to run this app on kubuntu.

I compiled and installed from source yesterday but have had a few problems.

It picked up my network but I couldn't enter a WEP key and the connect failed. Can this be solved by using sudo, or do I have to edit a config file.

Also am I right in assuming I would have to assign a static ip address to the interface in order to get this working with kubuntu

Hi!
As far as one user has reported, you can download dhcpcd for Kubuntu and use it w/out problems. If you really don't want to do this - dhclient will be supported in the next release.
If you have problems entering a WEP key - make sure to see the "What's this" help for the 'WEP Keys' page in configuration.
Cheers.

I keep getting this error:

In file included from netlistviewitem.cpp:21,
from wlassistant.all_cpp.cpp:8:
netlistviewitem.h:29: error: redefinition of `class NetListViewItem'
netlistviewitem.h:29: error: previous definition of `class NetListViewItem'
netlistviewitem.cpp:27: confused by earlier errors, bailing out
make: *** [wlassistant.all_cpp.o] Error 1

am I missing something??

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
