Minimum required   KDE 3.4.x
Downloads:  134172
Submitted:  Mar 23 2005
Updated:  Dec 17 2007

Description:

KDM Theme manager is just what it says a theme Manager for KDM.
This control module allows you to easily add, remove and select any KDM theme you want.

to install:
./configure
make
su -c "make install"

To run kdmtheme simple open K Control Center and go to System Administration
There you will find KDM Theme Manager

Enjoy!

Packagers, if you want your package listed here, email me or post the link in the comments.
Please note that only the source packages come from me. I do not know if any of the other ones will work or are valid.
A Kubuntu package is now in "Universe" so look for updates there.
Gentoo ebuilds are in portage.

********
KDM Theme WILL be included in KDE4!
The integration has been completed and committed! as of 10/16/2006

Theme Designers please make sure to include a KdmGreeterTheme.desktop in your archives. Failure to do so may cause your themes to no longer work in KDE4!!

Changelog:

2007-09-28 (1.2): Backport of the KDE4 version
2007-10-08 (1.2.1): Fixed a porting bug where the selectionChanged() signal was never connected correctly.
2007-12-16 (1.2.2): Actually save things... (I am quite embarrassed about this one..)
Enable saving when you only disable themes. (emit the changed signal)

 Problem with deb

by FlipmodePlaya on: Mar 31 2005

Score 50%

After installing from the deb (0.8.2-1), when I select the KDM theme manager module in kcontrol it crashes with:

kcontrol: Failed to find kdmrc!

Any idea why this would happen or how I could fix it?

Looks like a great app, otherwise, good work!

The only way this could be possible is if KDE was not installed in a place where it could find itself! to find the kdmrc file I use KDE's own functions for locating it's own files. I'll look into it however I don't have any distribution installed other than Gentoo, which means I can't test it very easily.

I am running Mandrake 10.1 using KDE 3.4 . I have downloaded and compiled the program following the instructions. It compiled without a problem. However it does not show on my kcontrol menu, even after re-starting kde. Is there something I am missing here?.. some step I didn't take or change to make?..

Thank you very much.

Try the following:

close kcontrol then open a console und run the command "update-menus" as root first and then as a regular user. Restart kcontrol as user and check whether the KDM theme manager appears in the system section of kcontrol. This way I got it working.

Martin

P.S. If it doesn't work try installing the KDM theme manager Mandrake rpm which can be found in the contrib section of Mandrake 10.2. I had no problems installing the rpm on my (heavily updated) Mandrake 10.1. But even after installing the rpm you have to run "update-menus" as mentioned above

Same problem with my installation, it seems to be mandrake specific.
kcmshell kdmtheme says no module found. kcmshell background e. g. works fine.

But, kcmshell --list returns a blank list

 Debian package

Hi!

I think debian package has incorrect dependences. I'm runing it with libgcc1 3.4.3-12 (actual sid version). The users of kubuntu hoary have other breack dependences.

Unfortunately I didn't make the debian file as I don't run Debian, however if you can make a correct one I'd greatly appreciate it.

I fitxed it here is http://friki.org/descarregues/altres/kdmtheme_0.8.2-1.deb

This file should work in all i386 debian sid and ubuntu hoary machines.

If someone can send me /usr/lib/kde3/kcm_kdmtheme.so file compiled with debian woody I can package it to work with all debian-based distributions.

Tomorrow I try to compile it for PPC ;-)

Please upload this file to kde-apps, this file could be deleted in a weak :(

Thanks smileaf!!

im using kubuntu 5.04 and the *fixed* debian package didin't work.

kdmthemes depends on libfontconfig1 (>= 2.3.0); however: version of libfontconfig1 on system is 2.2.3-4ubuntu7

Please help as i think this looks pretty kewl and makes switching themes a lot easier

Thanks

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
