 Jerkiness problems

by lmcogs on: Jul 13 2006

Score 50%

Hi Great program, would do me
But I am getting a jerkiness, like a go/stop,go/stop motion on some copied dvds and even sometimes the film stops for a few second then starts again. Can be so bad have to give up.Some copies are ok.I am using gentoo with k9copy 1.0.4 and burning with k3b. I have a dv-380 pioneer dvd player.

Made several copies of this one film but no luck. Made a copy with linux dvdshrink and that worked fine. The copies that i got problems on seemed to work ok on the computer.

Any ideas

No I usually just copy main tittle and subtittles if any.

I use cheap infiniti dvd-rw disks but it worked ok with dvdshrink for linux. It could be my pioneer dv380 player not able for d9copy codecs. My system is amd 64 on asus sli premium, 1GB memory.

Well I think I may have discovered what is wrong and it is not K9copy. I believe the pioneer dv380 does not like the cheap disks dvd-r. It also could be the speed at which I copied them.
Anyway I ripped the original dvd on to a memorex dvd+r at 4x and this played just fine.

I then copied in K3B the infiniti dvd-r I had trouble with onto a memorex disk and funny enough this play fine. I don't have a good dvd-r disk to try so that will have to wait but I will try the cheap dvd-r disks at a lower speed.

hi jnmchlptt
Could you tell me what packed bitstream k9copy uses because on this forum for the pioneer dv 380 it states

"Yep. it is the packed bitstream issue. 25fps run fine but 23.976 stutters imagewise and
sound is slightly out of sync. very well known limitation of almost all mediatek based players.
Mpeg4modifer can be used to rewrite the file without packed bitstream, works fine".

 k9copy dual core

by Marshalle on: Dec 23 2006

I notice that while encoding only one of the cores is active at any given time (sort of swaps between the two). Given the intensive nature of encoding etc is there likely to be a dual core optimised version available?

Awesome app BTW, been using this for a few years now!

I noticed this too! This is on a Core Duo...

Only uses half the CPU.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
