 Crash in mid-copy

by guiplot on: Feb 17 2007

1.1.0-beta2 has worked well since its release until last night when it crashed after doing several titles then about 1/4 of the way through the main title it SIGSEGV'ed. New 1.1.0 did same.

System:
fedora 6, x86_64

Configure command:
./configure --with-qt-includes=/usr/lib64/qt-3.3/include --with-qt-libraries=/usr/lib64/qt-3.3/lib --with-qt-dir=/usr/lib64/qt-3.3 --prefix=/usr --libdir=/usr/lib64

Last few levels of Backtrace:

 Dual core support?

by zedsled on: Jun 19 2007

Score 50%

When will we see dual core support with k9copy? I really like this program and it works great on my Ubuntu desktop, but it could work even better if it used both cores in my cpu. Rips from DVD to ISO are not impacted by this and the program does make great copies. But ripping it to an avi takes a while because it only wants to use one of the two cores. The other one just sits there idle from what system monitor indicates. Si there a current work around for this or has smp support not been built into k9copy?

Hi, I just sent an email to support with the specifics, but just in case I'll let you know here as well.

On Debian Lenny, having the latest k9copy installed from the Debian-Mulimedia.org repo, I have a problem.

When the program tries to create the iso from the ripped and shrinked files, a k9copy error box pops up stating that there was an error burning the DVD. To get rid of this I need to kill the k9copy process.

I can then burn a DVD Video Project with k3b using the files in the k9copy temp directory.

I have changed the temp directory to /home/(username)/Movies/k9copy to give me easy access since k9copy hasn't been able to do it itself.

The only difference I've noticed on Lenny is that genisoimage is used instead of mkisofs, but k3b has no problems making iso's.

Another problem that doesn't occur using DVD Decrypter to rip and DVDShrink to shrink (both in Wine) is with the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 1 DVD series.

The audio for the extras is not provided when ripping the whole DVD with k9copy. As stated, DVDShrink doesn't have this problem.

I did notice that when using Windows, AnyDVD, DVD Decrypter, and NeroRecode, the alternative languages must be manually checked even when choosing the whole DVD. Perhaps these shrinking programs think the alternative languages aren't needed somehow. The extras are in English, but these alternative languages must be checked in order to hear the audio in them.

Thanks for a super program! I hope the making an ISO problem can be solved. The Looney Tunes problem is a smaller matter of course. But the ISO making is an integral part of the k9copy program. It's nice that k3b can still take the files made by k9copy and burn a DVD Video from them, but k9copy should, of course, be able to make the iso.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
