Description:

Enhancements of KDE Program Control Center mockup (http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=24793).

This mockup shows a refined package management system for KDE.

I'm not a GIMP guru, please consider it.

Changelog:

konqueror with enhancements and a apt kioslave as package manager.

Add search and package classification at sidebar.

Hum... progressbar is a good improvement. I think the text "Search for Programs" must be a section title and broken packages can be marked with a icon. A icon for select operations with package is needed to.

I'll make a new mockup when I have free time.

We definetly need this. It would simplify many things, and it would make it easier for windoze refugees to accept Linux. Most people fear the command line (apt-get, yum, dpkg etc..), and use complex programs like Synaptic.
I'm all for this :D

 distro independent?

The problem with building anything like this is that the packages are so different from one distro to another. We need to make it non-threatening for new users to build from source. Kconfigure is a good step in that direction. And Checkinstall helps in building the right package for your distro. But if it were done right, installing from source would be so seamless that any Windows user could manage it.

I think this program should work like Smart PM that can mantain a package database for any distro and package formats.

exactly.

however, making your own "smart" is a terrible waste of time. it would be great if someone turned this into a frontend to smartpm.

smart is better than any other package management system anyway, and its about time all linux users used the same one.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
