Description:

KTranslator is a program to translate words from one language to another.

Now, I create a program (dictconv) to convert a dictionary from one format do another, like a sdict to stardict. The program requires zlib and libxml2.

The program supports conversion from Babylon glossaries (.bgl) to stardict. I think this is the unique GPL program that handles Babylon glossaries at moment.

Thanks to Karl Grill (for the reverse engineering) and Ricardo Villalba (from Wordtrans) it is now possible.

More formats will come soon.

Changelog:

Dictconv

do you plan to add stardict format support?

i think it shouldn't be hard as there are console version of it - sdcv - which contains all code to work w dictionaries

There is a plugin for StarDict, but I haven't finish it yet. It should be in next version or I will release as separate package.

 OCR problem

I think there is a problem with the OCR plug-in because some words with certain letters are no recognized correctly (e.g. it "sees" the letter "o" as "0 -zero-".)

This seems to be a problem with gocr. It is in beta stage yet.
To have a better results, you can change the font and font size or contribute with the project.

I had acl installed but I needed also libacl and libacl-devel to compile (Suse 10, KDE 3.5).

To compile any package, you need the devel packages installed, but acl is not a dependency of KTranslator. This should be a dependency of KDE.

 Suggestion

If you have a bad configuration file , you cannot restart your Ktranslater having a crash . the only way is to destroy your configuration file.

I suggest to increase the control of the validity entries in your config file...

Example check if you have an entry for dictionary entrie or cr checking if the the dictionary exist...

TO prevent a crash program

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
