 problem opening file

 by kouvadaki on: Oct 29 2007

Score 50%

It's a great app, but I have a problem...
I have version 0.3.6 and when I try to open some mp3 files (that play on amarok and lame in konsole converts them) soundkonverter does nothing! The list remains empty! In the log there is nothing... For some mp3 it works, but for some it does nothing

Hellow,
Unfortunately I am not near my computer now (about 500km away!) and don't have the files with me...
I run OpenSUSE 10.3 and if I come upon any media files like that I will send them to you... I converted them to wav with soundconverter (similar gnome app) and then to mp3 with soundkonverter and it worked...

thanx for the app!

Dude, this application rocks :) It's one of the most user-friendly applications for KDE... a monkey would be able to convert music files with it ;-)

Hi,

I installed the most recent version, tried to convert an ogg file into an mp3 but don't get the mp3 playing on any of the players... not sure what's wrong there... the file i tried to convert had a decent size of 2.9MB as well but not sure how to trouble shoot this. Help is appreciated!

Thanks!

hi,

could you please go to the directory: ~/.kde/share/apps/soundkonverter/logs, remove all files, start soundkonverter, try to convert your files and send me all files in the log directory (before closing soundkonverter) to hessijames at gmail dot com.

you could also send me the defect file, maybe it is useful.

so the conversion gives no error. if you want try to decode the ogg file with soundkonverter to wav. and hear the result. then encode it via the command line with lame. at first without parameters then with the parameters in the log file.
at the moment i have to assume that the problem lies in lame or the audio players. (maybe a combination of that and the chosen parameters.)
so try to convert the file with other output options.

 feature request

Hello,
first thanks for the excellent tool. what i'm still missing is a cddb-plugin, so i don't have to type in all data by myself. freedb or another dadtabase would be ok.
or does this exist anywhere (google doesn't give results)
thanks!

hi,
currently soundkonverter queries freedb.org for a cddb match. querying a cddb manually isn't supported (yet) - i have only little time at the moment. but i can recommend easytag.

 fedora f8 rpms don't

 by nbecker on: Dec 30 2007

Score 50%

The fedora f8 srpms at
/repositories/home:/HessiJames/Fedora_8/src
don't build.

After fixing this:
+ ./configure '--prefix=%{prefix}'
configure: error: expected an absolute directory name for --prefix: %{prefix}

BTW, that's just wrong. Use %{configure}.

I'm stumped by this:
cd . && make -f admin/Makefile.common configure.in ;
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/nbecker/RPM/BUILD/soundkonverter-0.3.6'
*** Creating configure.files
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/nbecker/RPM/BUILD/soundkonverter-0.3.6'
cd . && /bin/sh /home/nbecker/RPM/BUILD/soundkonverter-0.3.6/admin/missing --run aclocal-1.9
/home/nbecker/RPM/BUILD/soundkonverter-0.3.6/admin/missing: line 52: aclocal-1.9: command not found
WARNING: `aclocal-1.9' is missing on your system. You should only need it if
you modified `acinclude.m4' or `configure.in'. You might want
to install the `Automake' and `Perl' packages. Grab them from
any GNU archive site.

hi, what happens if you run "WANT_AUTOCONF_2_5="1" WANT_AUTOMAKE_1_6="1" gmake -f Makefile.cvs" first?

And yeah, sorry mp4v2 support is currently not available.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
