 OGG Plugin

by emacs on: Jan 13 2007

Score 50%

I've just compiled the 0.3 version and the OGG configuration file seems broken again. No matter the quality specified, it runs oggenc with -q 3. I've noticed that the separator field in 110.oggvorbis.soundkonverter.xml has been made empty and the comma changed to a period in the output field. I think it needs to be changed to separator="." and the output reverted to what it was before (output=" [ %p,%*s%%]").

damn, you're right. somehow i mixed up the versions. but i didn't realize it, because it works for me without problems. - very strange. so please tell me if it works for you now.
i updated the packages, so you can either redownload them or use the plugin update tool of the configuration dialog.
btw: i didn't update the "output" field (i left it with a dot). it seems to be very inconsistend.

ok, i decided now to change the "output" filed to the "comma" version. it somehow seems to be more consistent - at least on my system.

I works for me with separator=".", as before. I took a look through the other XML plugin files and I noticed different variations of output (e.g.: output=" %*s (%p%%)"). I'm assuming it controls the formating of a particular command line string but cannot make sense of the pattern. Do you have a reference for what it means? Thanks!

it is needed to read the output of the backends. this way soundkonverter can display a progress bar.
%p is for an integer progress in percent (eg. progress: 12%)
%t is for the progress in seconds (eg. time=45s)
%0 and %1 are free values that can be used for the progress in frames (eg. frame: 120/324)
everything with an * will be ignored (eg. %*s)
and %% equals an %

 backend information

by daphreak on: Jan 15 2007

Score 50%

Hi !

I have one suggestion: Could you include some information about the backends in the readme? Some of them were very hard to find, for example I had no idea what shorten, ofr, ofs and gogo is. The hardest to find was lac, which really is "la". I think this is supposed to be lossless audio available at http://www.lossless-audio.com/ ?

At lease write out the abbreviations, lac was that hard to find because it's quite a common abbreviation. I only found it by doing a wikipedia search on "la".

Hi,

you're right that isn't very user friendly. I'll collect some information and add them to the next release.

please send me the log files (~/.kde/share/apps/soundkonverter/logs/) to hessijames@gmail.com
start soundkonverter, convert some files, copy the log files out of the log directory before you close soundkonverter.

 bug in 0.3?

by pawn on: Feb 5 2007

Score 50%

Hi,
Im running 0.3
Im converting all my library to mp3 64 abr using lame(-q 2), joint stereo with replay gain (to send file to portable mp3 player).
I start conversion in the morning. When i come back, i always found 2 of the 3 conversion process stuck (at getting File... for example), while the third one seems to run fine.
If i try to stop the stucked ones(or the overall process), the application crash (with the nice KDE crashed app box).

hi pawn, thanks for your comment.
i'm sorry for that; it is very difficult to find the cause of this bug. does it always stuck on "getting file"? i haven't got much time at the moment, so i wont be able to fix it soon, but i have a few questions.
after crashing, soundkonverter should reload the file list and you should be able to continue converting. does soundkonverter stuck on the same files, or does it continue without problems? and how often does this happen?

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
