please open the directory: ~/.kde/share/apps/soundkonverter/log
you may delete all existing files, if you want. start soundkonverter and try to convert a file to mpc. then - before closing soundkonverter - send me all the files in that directory to hessijames@gmail.com.

 Useful, too buggy

by danielferber on: Mar 3 2007

This software is really interesting! Only few converters support that number of file formats. Unfortunately, this software has still too many bugs to be used day to day.

For example, it even does not inform you that it could not find the decoder, even the decoder is in the search path. The software freezes often because the decoder/encoder did not work.

The software started messing the files by trying to convert files again and again (I tried mpc to mp3, once finished, it stayed trying to converting mp3 to mp3 forever).

And many other bugs.

At least, It showed me which command lime I should use to convert my files.

hi,
and thanks for your comment.
I think that I don't understand you correctly, because soundkonverter scans for the backends on every startup and shows a small icon, if new backends were found or some are missing. It dynamicly disables the formats for that the backend is necessary, if it couldn't be found. So soundkonverter shouldn't crash. (some log files could be helpful) Btw. I never saw soundkonverter crash because some backends didn't work.
The second problem is strange, too. If you could describe it a bit more in detail, I could try to reproduce it (and also fix it ;) )
If you want, write me a mail to hessijames@gmail.com

did you try to build soundkonverter with mp4 support? this is currently not possible, sorry.
or did you try to build it without any additional options? which distribution do you use then?

Yes, I have ffmpeg and mplayer.

In Settings - Enviroment - Programs not found: aacgain, gogo, lac, lpac, mppenc, ofr, ofs, replaygain.

Settings - Backends - ra:
Encoder: ffmpeg (yellow)
Decoder: ffmpeg or mplayer (yellow)
Replay Gain: nothing

Unfortunately I must use audioconvert in shell.

hi, sorry for the log delay, but my internet provider - namely "t-com" - forgot to activate my net access :(
At the moment I have got lot of things to do, sorry. But next week my holidays will start and then I'll look for a solution.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
