3.0.1:
Yakuake v3.0.1 is a minor bugfix release addressing installation and integration of the hicolor application icon.

Changelog:

Changes in 3.0.2:
* Added back a description file implementing the freedesktop.org AppData specification.

Changes in 3.0.1:
* Fixed installation and integratin of hicolor application icon.

Changes in 3.0:
* Yakuake was ported to KDE Frameworks 5 and Qt 5.
* A new default skin follows the Plasma 5 Breeze design.
* Terminal focus is now preserved more reliably when closing and reopening Yakuake.
* Config changes made via the title bar menu are now synced to disk immediately, and thus preserved if Yakuake is killed instead of quit gracefully.
* The option to auto-update tab titles with the title bar contents no longer interferes with manually setting a tab title. To return to auto-updating just clear the title.
* Performance improvements in the compositor-unassisted animation code path.
* Fixed bug causing incorrect window height calculation in multi-monitor systems.

 Features... features

Thanks for stepping in as the maintainer. This piece deserves to be maintained. It really rocks.

There is a couple of features that I found missing and since you asked for feedback, well here they are:
- Konsole has the ability to start certain kind of session (root session, python session, mc session, you name it). It would be kool if yakuake had this option as well.
- Session awareness. If I have two tabs open it would be very, very nice if they come back when I login again (so I can have my normal, my root and my mc session restored)
- A configurable border around the window would be nice as well ;-)
- And yes, I would love sugar and milk with it :-)

Again, thanks for the good work. I'll be looking forward to next releases.

One problem though...

My X server crashes as soon as yakuake is open (the term is visible) and I switch to another virtual desktop. I've also seen it happen when yakuake is open and I click inside a VMWare. Since I use a lot of VMWare this is pretty annoying.

Anything I can do to help out?

Submit the contents of the Backtrace tab of the crash handler dialog in a bug report :).

That might be hard if X crashes and restarts, which would kill drkonqi.

 a small patch

hi,

as you see must see a notification popup while startup and i don't like that,
i wrote a patch for version 2.7.5.
you can find it here :
http://spider01.sp.funpic.de/yakuake_startup.patch

with this patch the user can change that behaviour, so decide if he wants to see that notification on every startup or not

try it out !

What exactly do you do with the patch? Where does the code get copied?

You can run "dcop yakuake DCOPInterface slotToggleState" from "Run Command" to open it externally.

The next release will have a first-run dialog that will allow changing the access key before it is needed.

I dont like using more shell tab on the same console window.

I dont use also keyboard shoutcut.

SO:

Can be very interesting and cool to have a yakuake to every F* key.

Let me know I can help you to write something.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
