Changelog:

Changes in 3.0.2:
* Added back a description file implementing the freedesktop.org AppData specification.

Changes in 3.0.1:
* Fixed installation and integratin of hicolor application icon.

Changes in 3.0:
* Yakuake was ported to KDE Frameworks 5 and Qt 5.
* A new default skin follows the Plasma 5 Breeze design.
* Terminal focus is now preserved more reliably when closing and reopening Yakuake.
* Config changes made via the title bar menu are now synced to disk immediately, and thus preserved if Yakuake is killed instead of quit gracefully.
* The option to auto-update tab titles with the title bar contents no longer interferes with manually setting a tab title. To return to auto-updating just clear the title.
* Performance improvements in the compositor-unassisted animation code path.
* Fixed bug causing incorrect window height calculation in multi-monitor systems.

 separate windows

by jksgfv on: May 23 2012

First of all thank you very much for so great app!

I found split function very convenient in some cases. But sometimes this function could be more useful in separate regular window which can be resized, moved, maximized and so on.

So idea is to allow to run a separate instance of yakuake (may be with special argument) in a regular window (separately from "main" drop-down instance).

As alternative some kind of "detach session" function could be implemented: selected tab with whole session (with number of splitted terminals inside) can be detached from a set of session tabs to a separate window. "reattach" counter-function would provide ultimate functionality!

Actually this functionality seems to be more related to konsole but if its implementation is relatively cheap then why not to implement it in yakuake? :-)

Hmm, well, detaching is not impossible to do, but I'm a bit wary of doing it because it's a big departure from the current Yakuake concept. It's also a fair amount of work. I'll think about it, but don't expect fast action.

Okay, so may be consider the possibility to run another instance of yakuake in non-drop-down mode with the splitting functionality. Probably it will be easier.

If I find free time I will try to implement it by myself and provide a patch for you.

Sorry, that's a hack and doesn't fit into the design concept of Yakuake.

Many thanks for the update, yakuake is, hands down, one of the best KDE applications. Keep up working on it, this gem needs more love. :)

Thanks :).

Unless anything requires a bugfix release first, the next one will be the big 3.0 with the new skin engine and, provided we can get the last needed bits on the Konsole KPart side in place, session management.

 Search in the terminal output

For me the only reason not to use yakuke in KDE and start Konsole is the search function. Until now I thought that yakuake does not have one, but I just slipped from my keyboard and pressed some unknown shortcut. This opens the search bar at the top of the yakuake window. But unfortunately I can't reproduce the shortcut and don't find any information about it. Is this a easter egg or did I missed something?

In the "Configure Notifications" dialog in 2.9.9 or in the general config dialog in older versions.

Oh, sorry

I have overlooked this.

Tut mir leid Dich mit einer so trivialen Frage belästigt zu haben, aber manchmal sieht man den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht.

Danke für Deine großartiges Tool!

* Yakuake now automatically retracts after the last open tab closes.

Hi, could you make this "feature" optional? Thanks.

There is an option under Configure Yakuake -> Behavior page -> Keep window open after last session is closed.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
