put this file kcometen3-1.1.ebuild in your

$PORTDIR_OVERLAY/kde-misc/kcometen3/

directory:

##############begin kcometen3-1.1.ebuild
# Copyright 1999-2006 Gentoo Foundation
# Distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License v2

inherit kde

DESCRIPTION="A 3d kde screensaver."
HOMEPAGE="http://www"
SRC_URI="http://www.kcometen3.net/files/${P}.tar.gz"

LICENSE="GPL-2"
SLOT="0"
KEYWORDS="x86 ~amd64"

need-kde 3.2

src_unpack() {
unpack ${A}
cd "${S}"
}

pkg_postinst() {
einfo "kcometen3 installation is complete,"
einfo ""
}
##############end kcometen3-1.1.ebuild

Sorry the SRC_URI is broken atm so you will have to dld the source yourself, put it in /usr/portage/distfiles and run

ebuild $PORTDIR_OVERLAY/kde-misc/kcometen3/kcometen3-1.1.ebuild digest

then install with

emerge -DuN kcometen3

Thanks, BRs

Woowww, this is a really nice screensaver. And it runs great. Only problem: I can't find it in my screensavers list :(. The only way to see it is by running it from the console. Got any idea how to fix this?

Well,...no ^^

I followed the usual install procedure, everything went fine. Where is it supposed to be in the screensavers list anyway?

For SUSE 10.1 you have to build with
./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3
make
sudo make install
Doing so the screensaver will show up in the desktop configuration.

I have some problems in my system.

after 3 reboots the result of testing has not changed

use someone this in fedora?

 CPU usage?

I'm also having problems with this screensaver. I compiled / installed it and it shows up, but even during the preview (in the little window when selecting screensavers) it makes CPU usage spike to ~80-90%. This usually happens within 1-2 seconds of starting it. And yes 3D rendering is enabled, as all other OpenGL screensavers work perfectly fine. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion, but that's the first thing I checked. I can assure you the drivers are up to date, as all other OpenGL screensavers and games (including Doom3) run without a hitch.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
 Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
 I do not like some of the changes.
 KDE is taking the wrong way.
 I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
 I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
