aKode

   2.0.2

KDE Sound Application

Score 79%
Link:  Link
Downloads:  12371
Submitted:  Oct 18 2005
Updated:  Apr 6 2007

Description:

Not really a KDE application and not even an application, but very usefull non the less.

aKode is the decoding library used in akode_artsplugin in kdemultimedia, and improves the aRts experience by fewer drop-outs, more supported formats and fewer bugs in general.
It can also be used directly without aRts in JuK and Amarok.

aKode supports decoding of MPEG audio, Ogg Vorbis, Ogg FLAC, old FLAC, Speex, WAV, and Musepack audio.

Changelog:

The aKode 2.0 release is independent from kdemultimedia and now features stable aRts-less playback.

6/4 2007: aKode 2.0.2 release.
* Support for new FLAC C API (1.1.3+)
* Fixed WAV replay bug.
* Improved FFMPEG decoder
23/07 2006: aKode 2.0.1 release.
* Fix SRC-resampler and Jack-sink,
both broken in 2.0
* Add more flexibility to
aKode::Player
14/12 2005: aKode 2.0 release. Identical to RC 1
23/11 2005: RC 1. Bug with short samples fixed and Solaris support improved2
4/10 2005: New release that has fixed a build bug

 Settings for akode

 by rabauke on: Nov 17 2005

I have to set the sound-quality (16bit) and sampling rate manually, as otherise the sound is very noisy.

Where can I set these parameters?

If you use ALSA you change the ALSA defaults in .asoundrc

Hi,

I have a problem compiling Akode 2.0 rc1 with gcc-3.4.4. When using 3.4.3 it does work fine. I use gentoo Linux.
Where may I post such issues?

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
