Description:

CrossVC is a cross-platform version control client formerly known as LinCVS.

Now for more than 6 years LinCVS development is improving. Meanwhile there are binaries available for all common platforms - now the time has come to adapt the name and to verbalize the ongoing evolution. From now on, this version manager is available as CrossVC (Cross Version Control). Cross in the first is a synonym for its multi-platform support. Yet shortly - at the time of publication of the CrossVC book - this name will gain another meaning: The support of multiple version control systems. First in line is subversion, however the integration of further systems is in preparation.

Changelog:

* added: support for Subversion 1.5 and 1.6 on Mac OSX and Linux
* added: cancellation of scm command via escape button (and on Mac via Command+.)
* changed: Mac: CrossVC saves log files now in ~/Library/Logs like other Mac apps
* changed: apply button in settings dialog skipped
* changed: Mac: support for Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger) skipped
* changed: export of a CVS project can be canceled now
* fixed: crash if a dialog has been closed via the close button of the window frame whilst a running scm command
* fixed: failing cvs command if the CVSROOT contains a trailing slash and the connect method is local or fork
* fixed: crash if the creation of a local CVS repository has been canceled
* fixed: handling of html code in commit messages
* fixed: Mac: handling of native menu bar (could cause a crash)
* fixed: deactivated folders could not removed persistently from workbench in rare cases
* fixed: Mac: adaption of main window geometry after switching to a lower monitor resolution
* fixed: drag & drop of a project to the workbench
* fixed: adaption of the file view after removing of a project from workbench
* fixed: dead revisions in the tree view of the log dialog are selectable now
* fixed: CVS: ignoring of folders containing whitespaces in the name
* fixed: CrossVC seemed to be frozen whilst an export of a CVS project
* improved: Mac: application icon name

If you want open source: use 'LinCVS'. This is an extended proprietary solution aiming at professionals for business. You'll not make a cent in this league if a product ever turns out to contain spyware or whatever.
But some third party download pages might use such product names to provide binaries that contain anything but what they claim to. So better use the original site for download.
However if you're looking for a crack - at some dodgy sites - no mercy;-)

"LinCVS XXL 1.7.3" has been tested by the Softpedia labs and found to be
completely clean of adware/spyware components. See here for more informations:

Without the source, they can't know that for sure. Also, there's the issue of portability, where there's no substitute for source code. Not to mention Free Software ethics, of course.

If you don't trust us then don't use CrossVC XXL. No problem.

Btw, you can use the GPLed version of CrossVC which is open source. You can check the code and you can port it. But I don't believe that you have read one line of the CrossVC code.

Fair enough, I guess I won't use it then.

On whether I've read the code... of course I haven't; the license field here says it's proprietary. But, you shouldn't take my comments as hostile; I was just letting you know how some of your potential users felt, so that you can make an informed decision. I'm a bzr user anyway, so I don't think CrossVC handles that (yet?).

CrossVC is available in two flavours:
CrossVC is open source, CrossVC XXL provides some more features and is closed source.

Users who want to use only open source software can take CrossVC. For users who need professional support and advanced features CrossVC XXL is the right choice.
It's a little bit strange to suggest that you can't trust CrossVC XXL. Or have you any evidence for spyware in CrossVC XXL?

My background is in security, so I guess I worry about these things more than most folks. It *is* a valid concern though. Governments have access to the source code even for closed software, for example, to make sure it's not doing something they don't want.

Apart from explaining that, I'll leave the discussion here. I realise it's not fun to have issues like this raised on your product page :) Best of luck :)

You can't ask for removement without a good reason.
Why do you want this application to be removed?

This is an extended proprietary solution aiming at professionals for business.

oooh riiight so unless its a "binary" its not comercial yeaaaah, what totaL BS.

What happens if I have a bug and "I want to modify the client", oooh yeah i cant "its a professionals" only application.

Well this "professional", isnt using it.

Ive seen so many so called "professional" programs, that at a later date was lucky enough to review said code only to wonder what monkey coded this mess

So take your monkey code and put it were the sun don't shine

 quality of comments

Come on guys. Nobody is forced to use it and there is an OSS variant. I won't use it too since it _will_ make problems in the future or when I want to use it on other platforms. But I simply ignore it and use ksvn or sth. like that.

But there are no reasons to comment in such a unfriendly way. It would be nice if _everybody_ is treated here with respect, even CSS-guys ;-). If you want it to be removed, ok. But please watch your language and keep this a friendly place for all.

Thank you :-D

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
