Description:

Katapult is an application for KDE, written in C++, designed to allow faster access to applications, bookmarks, and other items. It is plugin-based, so it can launch anything that is has a plugin for. Its display is driven by plugins as well, so its appearance is completely customizable. It was inspired by Quicksilver for OS X.

Use alt+space and start typing - you'll be presented with an option to launch something depending on what you've typed.

For example, hit alt+space then type "a" "m" (hit the two keys - no spaces or quotes) and this should offer to launch amarok - hit enter to launch

If you have no notification-area icon - then hit alt+space then ctrl+c to bring up the case-sensitive menu to allow you to configure katapult

We now have a wiki - http://katapult.kde.org/wiki/

 document icons

by kalien on: Mar 9 2006

Score 50%

Hi, this is a great app. I made a patch for the documents plugin to show mime icons or previews. (I know It's slow on the preview sometimes and only shows the mime .. couldn't think of how to replace the image after Document::icon() has been called):

I'll take a copy of this and put it into the devbranch.

I think coding an option to make it so that it's "choosable" shouldn't be too hard

How about if there was an option that Katapult would launch when you start typing "on the desktop" without the need of a shortcut key?

cheers, Alex

A kopete "catalog" would maybe be pretty nice. Type name/email, if availible show picture.

This will be available for 0.4 - we have it working already - give me an email if you're interested in using the development version

 Great app

Very usefull. I have a feature request: How about the ability to "tab" between files if multiple are found in the amaroK db?

Eg. if I type "Nirvana", and only know I want to listen to Nirvana, not which song. Having functionality that makes it go to the next song found when pressing the TAB-key would be great. (Shift-Tab for reverse)

Keep up the good work.

well we're planning to mimic QuickSilver behaviour, so it's planned don't worry (thougbh it'll probably use up and down instead and tab to switch between item and action selection)

 duplicate names?

When I want to start the program kjots (or something else) via katapult and also have a folder called "kjots" in my home directory, katapult always leads me to the folder. It would be better to get a choice of both, the folder and the program, everytime so that one could decide per tab key which one katapult should lead to.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
