Description:

This is a graphical user interface of famous Alien which makes it possible to transform packages (See screenshot). You must be logged in root to be able to use it Screenshot: Current version , more "user friendly" with folder selector and "install" button and you are automatically logged as root with the launching of the program , it is enough to type your code (see second screenshot...)

ENJOY IT!

Thibault Baldetti

PS:Special thanks to Eric Laffoon for some modifications...

The new version has many news.
But, the icons have a bad quality.
And the title is not complet.
Is-it normal ?

Looking at the dialog, the author did not create a layout for the widgets on the form yet. If your font size/theme/... is different, some GUI elements may not fit anymore.

I sent him a copy of a revised version .1 with a title, the widgets gridded and a startup check for if you are root with the option to relaunch. He will probably incorporate it soon. If not email me for a copy.

 0.3 does not work!

Is this program really a GUI to Alien or is it just a prank? Sorry if it was really intended to work, but the more I test it the more I feel this program dose absolutely nothing!

And why must I have root priveleges? What if this program (unwittingly?) kills some files inside my /usr or /bin directories?

Please let us have a look at the source code, if it is true you have released your app under the GPL.

P.S: If your application was really intended to work, then I am really really sorry for hurting your feelings. Deepest apologies!

NO PANIC! I use with the daily newspaper my application, initially, you installed alien?(Not alien GUI!) It is a utility of conversion and installation of packages in text mode... I am absolutely not responsible for the programs which you install, which wants to say that if you install (for example) a bad program RPM, it is not my fault! Moreover, alien itself requires your password root...

Enjoy it!

Hello and thanks for that! Je suis tres tres sorry that I accused you wrongly! But 0.4 now has warning that I need to install Alien and cela et tres bon. I have successfully converted three debs to RPMs now and installed successfully and run them too! Great job! I did not even know that I could convert DEB to RPM before I saw Alien GUI on KDE-Apps. :) Tres bien.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
