Description:

KoverArtist is a program for the fast creation of covers for
cd/dvd cases and boxes. The main idea behind it is to be able
to create decent looking covers with some mouseclicks.

The project started from my need for some decent covers for the
films I record from television and then often burn on dvd for
archiving.

With series I usually start with one or two dvds, and add more as
more episodes are available. So the program - KoverArtist - had
to be flexible enough to handle that. This also requires changing
covers on the fly to use cases that can house more discs.

Changelog:

Version 0.7.6
* Fixed a segfault when opening a project with an existing project open and a disc tab active
(thanks to filochard for reporting).
* (Re)activated help menu.

Version 0.7.5
* Fixed a bug around cddb lookup (thanks to filochard for reporting)

Version 0.7.4
* Added missing "Hide title text on front side" option. Thanks to filochard for reporting!
* Allow program start even if no case definitions are found.
* Use the default case if a loaded project uses an unknown case.
* Added debug and trace log-output commandline options. Default log output level is now info.
* Fixed switching to the new disc's tab page when a new disc is added.
* Fixed disc tabs handling when the number of discs is changed in the project page.
* Fixed a crash when loading a project when a current project exists.
* Fixed image file names in saved projects.

Version 0.7.2 and 0.7.3
* Fixed Debian / Launchpad package build

Version 0.7.1
* Added Czech translation (thanks to Pavel Fric).
* Added Netherland translation (thanks to Roger Gabriels).
* Added Debian package structure.

Version 0.7
* KDE 4 port. Finally.
* Current limitations: Drag&drop is not implemented, and the help/manual is missing

Please see the included ChangeLog file for older changes.

 Disc Support?

by Marshalle on: Apr 22 2006

Score 50%

Any chance of disc printing support, I have an Epson R200 series printer which prints directly on the CD's. It works simply by selecting a tray and from some measurements based on an A4 page. There are full details on the epson Web Site. I'd be happy to donate something to help get you started. Technical Details are available at http://www.epsondevelopers.com/documents/CDDVDTemplate.pdf

Yes, this could be added.

Where would one select that labels shall be printed? Probably global in the settings, and then per project, or per disc?

Hmm... maybe extra "Print Label" and "Print all Labels" menu entries would be suffient, as one needs special paper for that anyways.

Thanks for the offer of a donation. I would rather prefer if you would help testing the label printing - send me an email if you like to!

The printer actually prints straight on the disk these days, and they come out really really nice, no stick on labels needed. I should also mention most of it's handled by the printer driver, one of which is already available in the gutenprint project. Definately happy to help with testing, as far as I know there is absolutely no program out there that will do this. I could send you the epson tool to have a look at if you like (you can't download it) but it only runs on windows obviously.

 Re: Disc Sup

I can only feed the printer with data.

And I can preset some settings that the KDE/QT printer object allows. Like page size, color mode, paper source (tray), resolution, and some more. Basically the standard stuff that one sees in the printing dialog.

Anything beyond that would be hard to do and is probably something that should be solved in the printing layer before applications can support it.

OK, the main thing is that it can print in the correct area, I presume with the link I posted above that would be possible? If not, (as I am certainly no developer) where would we go about maybe starting a project for this?

I can print into a specific area on a paper. Can you select CD/DVD printing in Linux with your printer?

You could, for example, try if you can print a simple "Hello World" text with any KDE application on a disc. If that works I will have no problems.

Thankyou,
had it fixed. But how about your naming scheme. Can't you use the name-version scheme, please. It would be easier to maintain package building.

Thanks for this app. Kover is really outdated

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
