 can't compile

by rufsketch on: Dec 12 2007

Score 50%

This won't compile even after installing MLT 0.2.4 from source. ./configure doesn't seem to recognize that I have 2.4, and when I go to make, it tells me something about using unsermake instead. so I tried using cmake, and that starts it out, but it falters somewhere around 55%.

It would be really nice if you could distribute this in some way where all the user has to do is run the .sh file with no compilation necessary. This is a wonderful program, but it seems to run into a lot of dependency hell issues, if you could make it so it has everything it needs in it's own directory, even though that will increase the file size, I think that would be worth it in the end for the sake of compatibility.

on a side note, i can install 0.4 on my system, but it's terribly unstable.

sorry if i sound kinda noobish, it's just that I'm kind of noobish.

extra info: I'm using kanotix, witch is a debian etch based distro. is this program known not to work under debian etch?

I hope not, it's a sad day when we can't get linux programs to work under linux :(.

 0.6.0-svn

I've just tried the latest 0.6.0-svn from the Kubuntu hardy heron repository.

I just wanted to let Developers and those using it that it is a great improvement. There is a lot more stability and the audio stayed in sync with my video.

Thanks! Keep up the good work!

 0.7beta1 doesn't launch

by tonypizza on: Oct 7 2008

Hi

Gave a try to 0.7beta1. Compiled fine but i was not able to launch the program.

Console says :

kdenlive(19254) MainWindow::parseProfiles: RESULTING MLT PATH: "/usr/share/mlt/profiles/"
mlt_repository.c, mlt_repository_init: failed to dlopen /usr/lib/mlt/libmltsox.so
mlt_repository.c, mlt_repository_init: failed to dlopen /usr/lib/mlt/libmltsdl.so
KCrash: Application 'kdenlive' crashing...
sock_file=/root/.kde4/socket-carrouf-G1/kdeinit4__0

Bugtracker mentions a /opt/qt/lib/libqt-mt.so.3 file which is not a qt4 file, but a qt3 one (im my distro).

Any idea ?

thanks

Looks like there is a problem with your MLT installation in /usr/lib. How did you install MLT ?

It would probably be better to remove & reinstall MLT, then recompile Kdenlive

I recompiled mlt & mlt++ with no problem. I recomplied kdenlive too. No problem. This time the program starts but dies immediatly with a Fatal error : MLT's avformat (FFMPEG) module not found. MLT's SDL module not found.

I checked MLT's installed files on my system and I found those :
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltavformat.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltcore.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltdv.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltfezzik.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltgtk2.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltinigo.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltkdenlive.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltoldfilm.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltplus.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltsdl.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltsox.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltvalerie.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltvmfx.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltvorbis.so
mlt /usr/lib/mlt/libmltwestley.so

So what kdenlive is complaining about ?

Ok : the problem was that mlt was not compiled with qimage support. Now it does and kdenlive works fine. And looks great !

cheers

The beta rocks!

Unfortunately, it crashes from time to time, and cannot render to file.

I've just compiled and installed the last kdenlive 0.7beta, and all is working well. I've used the kdenlive kommander script (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/download.php?content=85826&id=1&tan=15580377) to download, compile and install kdenlive and its dependencies, so i'd recommend this way to unexperienced users.

This version looks more professional and seems a bit more stable than the 0.6 series, and has great new features, so many thanks to developers for their work!

That looks really weird. kdenlive_start should never report "Way to run = " and not indicate how it is running the app...

Can you reproduce this? If you can, could you please try and edit kdenlive_start, add "set -x" after the first line (that is, as the second line), then run it, and send the output to me?

Could you also please try to update to the newest wizard (if you haven't already), and try a run, where you set source dir and install dir both to /tmp and then give a go again?

Finally, do you have the package "gdb" installed? If not, could you try and install it, and select to run kdenlive in a gdb session, and then, if it crashed, submit the log file to kdenlive.org/mantis ?

Thanks, I would appreciate that.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
