 getting the desktop

great app, easy to install thanks to the ubuntu packages.

When I start a session, though, I get a terminal whereas I'd much rather record my desktop. Am I missing something stupid? Any help greatly appreciated. Will write a howto in return :)

Would be nice to add screenKast to ksnapshot, for instance whith a video tab or a drop down box to switch photo/video capture.

The site seems down; was the project abandoned? :(

Yes and no actually.
I was lacking funds to continue the captorials website (streaming video, you know ;-) ), but recently, some people contacted me with hosting solutions, and I've started working on a new version, together with a new screenKast app (kde 4). It won't be for any time soon (think months, not weeks), but expect something to happen. :)

Have it installed but when I run it all I see is a screenshot of my desktop on screenkast then hit new and ask for vnc password. I put it and a blue screen pops up with the terminal.I am running screenkast from a launcher. when I close the server it seems as though it is processing something then I hit play but nothing happens it is just a picture of my desktop. I see the play button and it is running what I recorded but it is only a screen shot of my desktop. any ideas what is going on. Then I tried to save what I had even though it was a video of a screenshot and tried to exported after saving it as avi file and said error.Using it on ubuntu gutsy. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Hi there.

That's weird. What vncserver are you using?

I'm currently putting some work into ScreenKast (mainly porting it to KDE4, but also improving the hideous use-friendlyness ;-)). I'll keep you guys posted of any changes.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
