UPDATE: as more people get involved into this project, it needs some organisation and version management. A sourceforge project should be opened soon.

This is a full screen front end for Amarok. The look can be changed by custom THEMES.

to build from source, you need Qt3 development files (IT WILL NOT WORK WITH QT4!!), kde development files (dcopclient.h) and the g++ compiler. Just run "make" to compile the program. If it doesn't work, try running "qmake" (or "qmake-qt3") first and then "make".
For installation run "make install" (requires root priviliges)
To run the program just run "amarokFS". An entry in the start-menu should also be created (may depend on distro, tested on ubuntu).

You can find openSuse 10.2 rpm-packages on http://ftp.huessenbergnetz.de/pub/paketdepots/suse/openSUSE_10.2/
(many thanks to Buschmann)

First theme:

This amarok-script can also be useful:

many fixes and updates by Martin Kossler - thanks a lot!
better progessbar
new element - labelPixmap
new element - nextPlaying
context menu instead of settings button
mouse hiding
added amarok script

 Gentoo ebuild 0.4.2

Same as before, just previous renamed.
Yeah I know, Gentoo is great ;)

@comar961: if you don't want to change the link for ebuild every version, you can link the download to this url : http://goondy.free.fr/gentoo/ebuilds
Use the solution you prefer, it's the same for me.

For Gentoo users : renaming the ebuild is (or should be) enough as long as there are no new dependancies.

Does that ebuild work if you have qt4 installed? I had a headache getting this to build on gentoo with qt3 and qt4 next to each other.

 A dumb question

How could I:
1) add quotes before and after Title?
(Song Title -> "Song Title")
2) add "by" before Artist?
3) add "from" before Album?

...more or less.

... as a screensaver.

PC is unused -> show screen of currently-playing song

I don't fully agree.
It would be a great screensaver but I also like the idea to have it as an app you decide to launch.

Moreover, screensaver will not work if you don't run amarok.

But maybe someone will do it, and maybe add a "screensaver to launch if amarok is not running" ;)
Would be great :D

That feature exists! It is an Amarok script. It is called KoverSS (KoverScreenSaver)

check it out!

 AMD64 package ++

I've created a amd64 (k)Ubuntu package, you can download it from here:

Also, I would like to request it to be started with "-setup" to just run the configure dialog, "-window #" or something similar to run in another window, and with "-root" to run in the root window. This way, it can be easily used as a screensaver.

I also tried my hands at hacking it to work as a screensaver, please look at the following file: http://phinnfort.phil0d0x.com/amarokFS.desktop
(It's supposed to be put in ~/.kde/share/applnk/System/ScreenSavers, and then everything should work, but when I click "test" here, it doesn't do anything).

Thanks for a very nice program, btw;)

 Nice script

I am really enjoying your script. I would genuinely like to see if appear in Amarok as a feature. I think I might even try my hand at a skin ;)

What do you think about being able to access songs from this view in some manner, be it via playlist or library? I think that the mouse rollover functionality would be useful for something of that nature to reduce clutter. Adding a feature like that would be awesome for parties. Imagine only allowing people to access this screen and a preferred playlist or the entire library. I think there are a lot of possibilities here that can be explored.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
