Submitted:  Feb 3 2007
Updated:  Mar 20 2007

Description:

UPDATE: as more people get involved into this project, it needs some organisation and version management. A sourceforge project should be opened soon.

This is a full screen front end for Amarok. The look can be changed by custom THEMES.

INSTALL:
to build from source, you need Qt3 development files (IT WILL NOT WORK WITH QT4!!), kde development files (dcopclient.h) and the g++ compiler. Just run "make" to compile the program. If it doesn't work, try running "qmake" (or "qmake-qt3") first and then "make".
For installation run "make install" (requires root priviliges)
To run the program just run "amarokFS". An entry in the start-menu should also be created (may depend on distro, tested on ubuntu).

You can find openSuse 10.2 rpm-packages on http://ftp.huessenbergnetz.de/pub/paketdepots/suse/openSUSE_10.2/
(many thanks to Buschmann)

First theme:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=52887

This amarok-script can also be useful:

Changelog:

0.5:
many fixes and updates by Martin Kossler - thanks a lot!
better progessbar
new element - labelPixmap
new element - nextPlaying
context menu instead of settings button
mouse hiding
added amarok script

 Moodbar

Great work!! :)

Suggestion: why don't you add moodbar support? I think it's very interesting. You could support it instead of the progress bar (and your program would be almost perfect) ;)

Regards!

 Fedora package

by BoknesMonster on: Feb 21 2007

Score 50%

This package is now in the Fedora repositories, bundled with an Amarok integration script (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=53125)

So if you are a Fedora user, simply do:

yum install amarokFS

to get the application. Alternatively, you can download the RPM directly from:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/6/i386/repodata/repoview/amarokFS-0-0.4.2-4.fc6.html

comar961, we have furthermore created several patches for amarokFS to fix some minor issues and add a few needed features (these are part of the Fedora package). Could we mail these patches to you so that you can take a look at them and possibly include them in the next release, so that everyone may benefit from them?

Thank you for this great application.

Just as a clarification; the Fedora patches can be downloaded using cvs (see http://cvs.fedora.redhat.com/extras.shtml for an explanation), or via HTTP from:
http://cvs.fedora.redhat.com/viewcvs/rpms/amarokFS/devel/?root=extras

 ubuntu-packages

I released a new version of my amarokFS ubuntu packages. Now there will be no gap between cover and reflection anymore. Furthermore the reflections gradient is radial now which looks imho better

Download: http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~kossler/amarokFS/amarokfs_0.4.2-3_i386.deb

Like BoknesMonster i would appreciate if you took into consideration to integrate my patches in your official version. They can be found at http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~kossler/amarokFS/patches/

i did, do and will not guarantee correct english grammar ;)

Hi,
Firstly, great work on the Ubuntu package! I like your patches, and am planning to include some of them in the next Fedora package as well (acknowledging you, of course :-) ).

However, I see we are duplicating some of the efforts here (e.g. the "large cd cover"-fix); care to work together? All the sources (including the patches) for the Fedora package can be downloaded from:
http://cvs.fedora.redhat.com/viewcvs/rpms/amarokFS/devel/?root=extras

Also, if there is something you would like to add to/modify in the program and would like some help, feel free to mail me:
faucamp ..AT.. fedoraproject ..DOT.. org

Cheers,
-Francois

Thanks for your config dialog layout patch, i added it to another version of my package.

I agree with you that we should work together. But we shouldnt commit too big changes without a comment from comar.

Issues i would like to work about are:
- Disabling of screensaver should although work for other DMs (especially gnome)
- amarokFS itself should be (or be able to start as) a xscreensaver-hack, but I were not able to figure out how to do this (as far as I understand the qt things it should be possible to create a screensaver which simply uses the AmfsXML-Widget and doesnt quit on mouse moves - when amarok doesnt play it should start an other screensaver)
- a label should automatically change the font size if its content doesnt fit

at this moment i made the progressbar updating every second instead not only if the percentage of the advanced song changed.

http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~kossler/amarokFS/patches/smootherprogressbar.patch

together with a little fix to my theme I released another version of my ubuntu packages (small patches all along but i have not the experience in c++ to work on bigger issues)

 amarokfs on ppc

Hi,

The gentoo ebuild should be modified to support the ppc architecture. I just added the keyword ~ppc and compiled and installed it successfully on my Powerbook.

Great work,
thanks!

I just uploaded the sixth version of my ubuntu packages. It includes a label which shows the upcoming songs of the playlist.

The patch for this feature can be found here: http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~kossler/amarokFS/amarokfs_0.4.2-6_i386.deb

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
