Submitted:  Feb 3 2007
Updated:  Mar 20 2007

Description:

UPDATE: as more people get involved into this project, it needs some organisation and version management. A sourceforge project should be opened soon.

This is a full screen front end for Amarok. The look can be changed by custom THEMES.

INSTALL:
to build from source, you need Qt3 development files (IT WILL NOT WORK WITH QT4!!), kde development files (dcopclient.h) and the g++ compiler. Just run "make" to compile the program. If it doesn't work, try running "qmake" (or "qmake-qt3") first and then "make".
For installation run "make install" (requires root priviliges)
To run the program just run "amarokFS". An entry in the start-menu should also be created (may depend on distro, tested on ubuntu).

You can find openSuse 10.2 rpm-packages on http://ftp.huessenbergnetz.de/pub/paketdepots/suse/openSUSE_10.2/
(many thanks to Buschmann)

This amarok-script can also be useful:

Changelog:

0.5:
many fixes and updates by Martin Kossler - thanks a lot!
better progessbar
new element - labelPixmap
new element - nextPlaying
context menu instead of settings button
mouse hiding
added amarok script

 improvements...

by denisq on: Mar 9 2007

Score 50%

idea is great, but many improvements could make amarokFS more impressive:
- highlight effect on the bouttons (maybe you could use the blue ones from amarok, they're quite nice)
- more effects, like fade-in/out when starting/closing amarokFS
- moodbar? optional
- fix the image, make the reflection stick to the image (it's not always the case)
- elapsed + remaining time
- better skin, the postion of the elements is not bad, but the font has no sense: no difference between artist, track (maybe in one line?), album and year (maybe itatlic?). What about changing the font color to white (or something brighter)?

...anyway, nice work so far!

I have already written a patch for this problem, it's part of my ubuntu packages and is to be found at http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~kossler/amarokFS/patches/alignCdcoverWithBottom.patch

My Packages now contain a contextmenu replacing the settings button in the top left corner.

Furthermore the packages now can be obtained through a repository:
deb http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~kossler/amarokFS/ ./

Thank you for including all the nice patches in 0.5. It works very well here, except of one thing: long track names aren't shown correctly.
See also this screenshot:

No, I'm using Gentoo.
But take a look at the comments below, IIRC there is a Kubuntu package.

This does not happen for me (I can see 2 full lines of text) It seems to be a font problem (probably caused by other fonts installed on your system!?), try to adjust the font-size in your theme.xml (usually /usr/share/amarokFS/theme.xml)

The problem that very long names will be cut seems not solvable for me cause there is no function in qt to dynamically scale the font-size down.

After setting fontSize to 26 (before: 30) for title(), artist() and album() it works fine here.
I wonder why this happens, I'm using 7pt fonts for everything else (Bitstream Vera Sans / DejaVu Sans).
Now it looks like this: http://www.eliasprobst.eu/~elias/stuff/screenshots/1174326642.png

Hei,

I'm trying to install AmarokFS 0.5 from your repo with my Ubuntu.
I've added deb and deb-src from this site:
http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~kossler/amarokFS/

But when running apt-get update, I get this errors:

/
Failed to fetch http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~kossler/amarokFS/./Sources.gz MD5Sum mismatch
Reading package lists... Done
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
/

I hope you can help me?

 0.5 at my repositor

I just uploaded the 0.5 to the repo.
Note that i finally worked out how to sign the packages. Therefore you will have to add my public key as described on the site.

@dennismdk: look at the theme-howto.txt where this is described.

@maddinK
Hi,
I was surprised to find a slightly modified copy of my amarokFS amarok script in the Amarok Full Screen 0.5 distribution, with all references to the original copyright deleted. May I kindly remind you of section 2 of the GPL:

a) You must cause the modified files to carry prominent notices
stating that you changed the files and the date of any change.

Would you please restore the original copyright messages, and _then_ add your contributions/modifications? You should _at least_ state clearly that this is a modified version of the original script, when it was modified, etc.

You are welcome to submit your patches/modifications upstream, and you will be acknowledged for them. But don't plagiarize.

Hi

I'm sorry for the inconvience. How I already tried to explain you by email it was not my intention to plagiate your work. I will try to satisfy your wishes with the next ubuntu release.

Please excuse me but this is my first contribution to the open source community.

I just released another version for ubuntu where I readded your copyright. Furthermore I marked the script as ubuntu package so that it wont collide with yours.
I also asked comar961 for changing this upstream.

Finally a new version. This app has lots of potential, I can't wait to see mre features like lyric support (at least I hope it'll appear in future versions ;)

A small bug here, when I access "Reload" from the context menu amarokFS crashes:

Keep on with the good work!

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
