Semantik - a mindmapping-like tool for document generation (reports, thesis, etc).

The requirements are:

KDE4 >= 4.8
Python >= 2.3 && Python < 3.0

KDE4 development packages (kdebase-devel)
Python2 development package
The program kde4-config in the PATH

Some systems may require special compilation options such as:
PYTHON=python2 PYTHON_VERSION=2.7 waf configure build

Semantik 0.9.4
* Resize class elements
* Remember window settings in semantik-d
* A few fixes on the linear view

Semantik 0.9.3
* Generated HTML documents no longer reference pdf files
* Save Semantik diagrams on exit
* Minor changes in pdflatex documents
* New class element in diagrams
* Zoom improvements

Semantik 0.9.2
* New diagram items: matrix, boundary, class
* OpenOffice.org template fixes (Issue 39)
* Fix for null bytes inserted through copy-pasting
* Removing an item from the linear view no longer causes an assertion (Issue 41)
* Build script fix for Python 3 (Semantik still requires Python 2 though)

The log also says:

distutils.errors.DistutilsPlatformError: invalid Python installation: unable to open /usr/lib/python2.5/config/Makefile

Please install python-devel and let me know if this solved the problem.

 Delete item...

Very often when i want to delete some item it close all application without any error message. It would be nice if it would not crash on this basic action. Otherwise Semantik is nice application. Then I would appreciate if I could define my oven flags and assign to them an icons.

The crashes have been fixed in the version 0.5.6.

Custom flags and custom colors raise interesting questions that will be treated last: when a map is opened on another computer, one would expect to get the same flags; but for new maps, which flags must be used ? the ones of the last map opened or the default ones ? and how to reset to the default flags ?

you know, you should really try to get this in KOffice by writing a flake shape. It'd be very cool to easily integrate such documents in kword, kspread and the other apps...

Integrating the mindmap view into koffice would be a bad idea: the map comes before the text documents, and the map makes no sense in drawings, spreadsheets or formulas.

Making the diagramming tool a koffice application is an interesting idea, though somehow duplicates Kivio features. Kivio has never been too helpful to me, but others may not share this opinion.

A third idea is to use the Koffice libraries from Semantik, if the following technical limitations can be overcome: load/unload documents extremely fast, provide document thumbnails, limit the amount of menus, and make the build systems live in harmony.

There are more urgent concerns at the moment, but these ideas are considered.

"the map comes before the text documents"
what about having the map in the text document as well, maybe hyperlinked?

 lin. view segfault

Firstly, thanks for such awesome program!

0.5.7 segfaults when I try to make a top=level entry (yellow) a child of another top-level entry by dragging in linear view.

Used to work in 0.5.5a and didn't try other versions.

Please let me know what other information will be helpful in debugging.

I am running x86_64 gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.5, qt-4.3.1

there is a bug in landscape printing in 0.5.8.

The image being printed is properly scaled for landscape dimensions but is not rotated.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
 Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
 I do not like some of the changes.
 KDE is taking the wrong way.
 I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
 I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
