Description:

A text-based subtitles editor.

Translators wanted:
If you want to help, translate the program into your language and send me the results.

Note for translators:
Please, before starting a translation make sure there isn't one for your language already (or if there is an unmaintained one).
Currently maintained translations include Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgarian, Czech, French, German, Italian, Russian, Serbian (Cyrillic and Latin), Spanish, Polish and Ukrainian. Greek and Hungarian translations are currently unmaintained.

Changelog:

Version 0.5.3:
- added Czech, Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgarian, French and German translations contributed by Petr Gadula, Marcio P. Moraes, Petar Toushkov, Thomas Gastine and Panagiotis Papadopoulos respectively
and updated Spanish translation
- added Kross powered scripting interface with some basic examples in Ruby, Python and JavaScript
- added action to translate subtitles using Google translation services
- fixed many bugs including some that would crash the application
* selecting a file from the recently opened list could crash the application when using Qt 4.5
* video playback was completely broken with Qt 4.5
* bugs related to searching text and errors
* bugs related to undo/redo that could result in a crash
- other minor fixes, user interface changes and improvements

 Feature request

by sosonok on: Apr 18 2008

Score 50%

I wonder if it is possible to show the number of characters per line in the selected subtitle. Maximum number of characters feature is useful, but I know my DVD standalone player displays up to 48 characters per line and sometimes I like to get more accurate line breaks manually.

Congratulations again for the program ;)

 French translation?

Hello.
I'm a french guy and I just updated the gentoo ebuild and opened your soft for the first time.
It's really great!!!

Hum, I have to press SHIFT+"-" to decrease time on a subtitle whereas "+" (so without SHIFT) works to increase time, is it a bug.

Well, my message is than there are no "po" files ... so no translation :/

well the missing SHIFT in the shortcut to move the subtitles looks like a bug. i'll give that a look.
about the missing po file, i had forgotten that i need to actually provide that file... sorry. i'll make a new release with it ASAP.

 DVD Player and SC

by sosonok on: Apr 20 2008

I realized after saving .srt subtitles with Subtitle Composer my DVD stand-alone player doesn't play them. By using "file" command, I've find out that these files have no longer "CRLF line terminators", which seems to be the problem. Any solution?

i hadn't anticipate this would be a problem. for now, open the saved file with kate and change the line terminator with it (Tools->End of Line). the next release will have support for selecting the output line terminator.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
