 Inclusion into KDE

by uwolfer on: Mar 22 2008

Score 50%

I like the idea of this app. IMHO it could be included into an official KDE module (probably kdemultimedia?!)

You would need to do the following steps:
* Import the app in kde playground (you need a KDE SVN account for that step)
* Work on it, make it ready for release.
* let others review the app (done in kdereview)
* maintain the app for a longer time.

If you have any questions, please contact me: uwolfer at kde.org

by lxcyber on: Apr 1 2008

When I try to run webkam I get :
webkam: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libwebkam_v4l.so: undefined symbol: _ZN5Solid5Video16staticMetaObjectE
How can I solve this problem?
(OpenSUSE 10.3, x86_64)

Thanks.

I wish I knew. I need some more data. First of all I don't know if v4l lib from kopete works under 64bit systems. In last version I removed some export stuff form class declarations so maybe this broke this. Can you tell if your webcam works under kde4 version of kopete or you get the same error?

 Motion detector

What about integrating Motion detection software into this app? http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome

It's a command line software with motion detection, to take automated snapshots on regular intervals, execute external commands when detecting movement (and e.g. send SMS or email), live streaming webcam...

It could have lots of uses, security monitoring, streaming...
It just needs a helping gui

 Great looking!

Hi! This looks great app, hopefully video recording is possible too later.

I would like to suggest that you would implent a "journal" function to this.

Usually humans like to write journal to paper and some to PC (digital paper) but what if you wouldn't need to write, but you would tell them? And otherwise it would be nice to send small videos by email or put to webpage. But idea would be done personal video-journal function :-)

KDE is made for users by users....
What can you give back to others?

 64 bit?

Hi,

This looks great. Could you make a 64-bit package? I'd compile it myself but it needs all the kde development files (an enormous download for me)

Thanks!

So I decided I couldn't live without this and built it myself. I made a deb package, would you like to have me email it to you so you can post it here?

Also, I'm interested in helping you develop this application as there are some features I'd like to add.

Thanks for starting this project, it's great!

 webKam ebuild

by qnx on: Jul 12 2008

I've made an ebuild for Gentoo. I don't know which packages should be included as dependencies, therefore I added only kdebase-data and cmake.

Does anyone have an ebuild? The link earlier is no longer valid. I'd love to add this to our distro overlay.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
