Nice piece of software!
On thing I noted is that adding slides from directories with several subdirectories loaded with pictures takes a looooong time to generate previews for those directories...
Perhaps an option to not generate previews for directories would be nice.
Also, I'm eagerly waiting for sound playback on preview.

I found smile some days ago, tried it and liked it, see http://risto.kurppa.fi/blog/2009/11/smile-a-great-photo-show-software-for-linux/ (with a sample clip)

Some questions:

1) How do I register to SMILE forum at http://smile.tuxfamily.org/?q=forum

2) I tried to look for an IRC channel to discuss smile. I ended up on some weird network on #smile and got kickbanned for asking if that channel was for this Smile - I suppose it wasn't, based on their reaction. So is there one existing somewhere? I started #smile-slideshow - would you add it to your website to help other users to find it?

3) Is it OK if I find someone to translate the website to english, would you add it there? Maybe put the source code to google code for people to easier access it and then update it from there to live site every now and then?

4) Are you the only one developer, do you accept patches from other people?

5) Is the development version code somewhere available, what's the process to get write access there?

6) Is there somewhere a changelog to previous version? Couldn't find it at the source package: http://download.tuxfamily.org/smiletool/smile-1.0.tar.gz

7) Is the licence of SMILE stated somewhere on the home page?

8) What features are designed for next release? A HD version would be great.

9) Is the autosave-on-exit already implemented, see http://smile.tuxfamily.org/?q=node/246

10) Is this patch already in: http://smile.tuxfamily.org/?q=node/250

Sorry for not answering but i change of home this week and i was a bit busy previous weeks. I will restart the dev as soon as possible but YES i accept the patch (if they doesn't broken the source code or create specific distro things).

For site web the login are blocked for now because a ton of spam. I would like to remake all the site and merge it with 2mandvd site but don't find time for now

hi! i love your application, but i have an error :(, and i really don´t know why it happen...

Lo,
how can I create a video file from my slides?

When I click "render" it just plays all my slides and then a black video player opens with nothing inside. Could also nowhere find a video file.

Did I do something wrong?

OpenSuse 11.2 kde 4.3.5, smile 1.0

Just a little remark:

The only error in logsmile.txt is:

"Can't open perl script "/opt/smile/fake.pl": Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden"

Translation: Could not find file or directory

In fact there is no fake.pl in /opt/smile/
