 Latest and Greatest

Fantastic. Which I could get Israel currency on that site.

A few ideas:

1. If I select to write the results to the input text widget, I do not need all that height. Give me a more compact (one-line) view :-)

2. A clear button <x would be of help.

3. Again, history (v). I think these can be provided by stock kde widget rather than the simple editbox.

4, I am not thrilled with the icon but that's a matter of preference.

Thank you! Regarding your comments:

1. This sounds like a good idea. I'll probably implement this soon.

2. You are absolutely right. You will find this in next version.

3. Yeah I am not too happy about using a plain Plasma::LineEdit and managing the history with my own code, but I am not sure which KDE widget enables the history dropdown feature.

4. As for the icon, I am using the original Qalculate! icon, but I am willing to change that in the future...

KHistoryComboBox does it. I actually use it as a container and do not display it but it worked just fine when I did show it.

What history functionality is in the present code?

The icon is really OK if one likes hot pink :-)

Thanks, I will have a look at the possibility of including a KHistoryComboBox.

At the moment, you can browse the history using the up and down arrows when the cursor is in the input line edit. For some reason, it works only when the applet is placed on the desktop (it doesn't work when the applet is placed on the panel).

 0.6.1 broken in vertical panel

Hi,
Version 0.6.1 is broken in vertical panels: it doesn't turn into a popup applet so it's impossible to use. It works fine in horizontal panels tho. Version 0.6 used to work fine.

I am not sure what you mean by 'broken'. Can you explain further? On my box I can place the applet in a vertical panel and it seems to work fine.

Hi,

I would prefer that the result of the input is always printed/updated, not only when you push the enter-button. What do you think of that?

I personally prefer the way it works now but I guess I can add an option to enable "live" evaluation. You'll probably find this in the next release.

Thanks!

Unfortunately there seems to be a bug when you choose both options "Live evaluation" and "Write results in input line edit". Lots of keys are not working and no result is shown whatsoever. Without the second option everything is fine.

Oops, you are right. These two options cannot be both enabled at the same time (you cannot have the result written in the input line when everytime something changes in there triggers a new evaluation). I will make sure that this will not happen.

Using both options simultaneously was actually what I was looking for...
Isn't it possible to put the results in the input line when you press Enter even with live evaluation?

Hmm actually implementing this is more complicated than I thought. When you enable the "Write results in input line edit" option, the results space is hidden. To implement what you propose, I would have to change this and add some exceptions when the live evaluation mode is enabled. I think this would be quite counter-intuitive. I'll think about a better solution...

Up to the point where I found your plasmoid I have always been using the calculator which is implemented in the "Run Command" window (just type "=" in front of the expression and it turns into a calculator). It works exactly as I suggested. Probably you can have a look into that code.

Hi! I love this applet, but when I tried to compile 0.6.4 to upgrade from 0.4, I get the following:

It looks like you are missing some development packages. Try installing kdelibs5-dev with: sudo apt-get install kdelibs5-dev. Then run cmake again.

Thanks! I added the library, and the applet compiled like a charm. :-)

Now if I can only figure out how RPN works on Qalculate. :-|

RPN is not exactly intuitive at the moment. To use it, you have to enter an expression like this: "123 98 +" ant then press ENTER.

If you have some ideas how to improve it, let me know :)

Can't you define the RPN mode to work like an HP calculator: number <Enter> number <operation> ... ?

 Feature request

First of all, great plasmoid. Very useful.

It would be nice if the textbox got focus if you click anywhere on the widget. I implemented this for myself (for fun) a while ago, but I'm sure it's no problem for you to do it.

(1. I'm not sure I did it the right way. 2. I don't have access to that machine at the moment. Sorry about that, would be fun to send a patch otherwise. :P).

I second the request. Also when opened via keyboard shortcut the input line should get focus, right now you need to click on it after it's opened

Works in "normal life", thx!

But the focus is not set to the input field (after activating via shortcut), if you used the plasmoid "show the desktop" to minimize all application windows. No idea, why!

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
