Description:

Kdebluetooth4 is the bluetooth framework for KDE4. It adds a lot of bluetooth abilities to the KDE4 desktop.

Current features:

* Trayicon to manage all functions
* Passkey and Authorization Agent to handle requests from remote devices
* Bluetooth Adapter configuration
* Bluetooth Device-Manager
* Bluetooth Device Wizard, to add new Devices (ATM, only input devices)
* KBlueLock, to lock your screen, when your mobile phone is out of scope and to unlock when it's back again (currently disabled, due to bluez4 DeviceDisappeared Signal issues)
* Send Files to remote devices (obex-data-server)
* Receive Files from remote devices (obex-data-server)

NOTES:

- the latest bluez4 and obex-data-server packages are needed
- the latest kdebase4-workspace package is needed (solid-bluetooth with bluez4 support)

BUGS:

- add/remove your BT adapter, while kbluetooth4 is running might crash in some situations

TODO:

- kio obex module (browse remote filesystem)
- support to pair audio devices (for Device Manager and Wizard)
- KBlueLock support for hidden devices
- switch solid to new bluez-4.x api
- ...

Changelog:

Version 0.1:

-initial version of kdebluetooth4

Version 0.2:

-receive files (big thanks to arjantop)
-kbluelock unlock screen feature
-kbluelock log away times
-query SDP database of remote device for input capabilities

Version 0.3:

- major Bluez4 port
- a lot of Bluez4/solid-bluetooth API changes compatibility fixes
- online/offline Mode improvements
- KBlueLock disabled (Bluez DeviceDisappeared Signal is not working)

 Interesting

by mecir on: Jul 7 2008

Score 50%

That's a nice project. I wonder if this is the "official" KDE's bluetooth app meant to replace KDE3's version (http://bluetooth.kmobiletools.org/), or an independent fork ?

Also, just a minor thing I noticed - the tarball seems to include duplicated files - the kbluetooth4/ directory is an exact copy of the main directory.

Okay, just noticed that the kdebluetooth page contains this too, so please ignore my question above :)

Hi,

yeah it is intended to be the official KDE4 bluetooth app.

Thanks for the hint, that there are duplicate files in the tarball -> should be fixed now.

But it is useless till bluetooth device browsing is not realized.

There is a great difference between
"be involved" and "be committed".
Usually we are committed...

 Bluetooth in Dolphin?

I'm still having to load KDE3's konqueror so I can transfer pictures from my phone. Any word on when the obex:// and bluetooth:// KIOs will be available for KDE4?

 Solid problem

Hi,

Thanks for your effort on this.

It guess the whole thing uses solid for its communication with hardware.

Somehow my solid installation seems to be completely broken. KBluetooth4 doesn't work here. It stays in offline mode.

If I enter "solid-bluetooth listadapters" in Konsole I get no results. Any ideas what to do? I'm not so familiar with solid yet.

Some additional info. KBluetoothd (from kde3) works and Konquerors KIO-slave for bluetooth:// in kde3 works also.

So Bluez and hardware is set up correctly.

Do the other solid api's work properly (e.g solid-network listdevices).
Otherwise you have to update your solid installation (kdelibs and kdebase).

No... My solid installation seems to be completely broken...

I'm running kdelibs and kdebase from trunk. Updating every weekend. It must be a configuration issue. But I can't find any configuration file and the systemsettings solid part doesn't seem to let me configure something (except switching between "Bluez" and "Fake Bluetooth").

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
