Description:

Kdebluetooth4 is the bluetooth framework for KDE4. It adds a lot of bluetooth abilities to the KDE4 desktop.

Current features:

* Trayicon to manage all functions
* Passkey and Authorization Agent to handle requests from remote devices
* Bluetooth Adapter configuration
* Bluetooth Device-Manager
* Bluetooth Device Wizard, to add new Devices (ATM, only input devices)
* KBlueLock, to lock your screen, when your mobile phone is out of scope and to unlock when it's back again (currently disabled, due to bluez4 DeviceDisappeared Signal issues)
* Send Files to remote devices (obex-data-server)
* Receive Files from remote devices (obex-data-server)

NOTES:

- the latest bluez4 and obex-data-server packages are needed
- the latest kdebase4-workspace package is needed (solid-bluetooth with bluez4 support)

BUGS:

- add/remove your BT adapter, while kbluetooth4 is running might crash in some situations

TODO:

- kio obex module (browse remote filesystem)
- support to pair audio devices (for Device Manager and Wizard)
- KBlueLock support for hidden devices
- switch solid to new bluez-4.x api
- ...

Changelog:

Version 0.1:

-initial version of kdebluetooth4

Version 0.2:

-receive files (big thanks to arjantop)
-kbluelock unlock screen feature
-kbluelock log away times
-query SDP database of remote device for input capabilities

Version 0.3:

- major Bluez4 port
- a lot of Bluez4/solid-bluetooth API changes compatibility fixes
- online/offline Mode improvements
- KBlueLock disabled (Bluez DeviceDisappeared Signal is not working)

 kdebluetooth4-0.3?

Is there beta, alpha or svn/cvs/etc repository?

kdebluetooth4-0.2 is not applicable for Fedora-10. So, I'm waiting for 0.3 version...

Sources from SVN. I try to fix compilation errors. According to comments in sources of kbluetooth4, we can replace isDiscovering() to isPeriodicDiscoveryActive() and stopDiscovery() to stopPeriodicDiscovery(). So

// if ( adapter->isDiscovering() )
// adapter->stopDiscovery();
// --SL
if ( adapter->isPeriodicDiscoveryActive() )
adapter->stopPeriodicDiscovery();
// --SL

Can anybody confirm it is correct?

Next:

setDiscoverable(discoverable) is messing. In kbluetooth4 sources there is hint what have to be changed:

// iface->setMode((Solid::Control::BluetoothInterface::Mode)mode);
iface->setDiscoverable(discoverable);

But expression (Solid::Control::BluetoothInterface::Mode)mode is not correct, because type missmatch and correct converting method is unknow.

Maybe for now we can use:

// --SL
if (mode == "Discoverable")
iface->setMode( Solid::Control::BluetoothInterface::Discoverable );
else if (mode == "Connectable")
iface->setMode( Solid::Control::BluetoothInterface::Connectable );
else if (mode == "Off")
iface->setMode( Solid::Control::BluetoothInterface::Off );
else abort();
// --SL

Can anybody confirm it is correct?

But it do not work yet. If I understand right, bluetooth adapter is not detected.

I have installed 0.3 on OpenSuSE 11.1 and adapter is found
apparently the phone is already somewhere
I can select it in the "send" option
but then the phone asks for a password - I forgot / do not find any more

IMHO it would be useful to be able to show - and delete - existing devices.

Don't you mean pairing code?
In that case you just have to enter the same 4 digit number at both devices... I usually go with 0000

Hi!
I have the problem that I do not know where to put in the pin on the computer. I searched a lot of forums for this...

(using kubuntu with the 0.3 version of KDE 4.2 pre-release)

[I tried to make a new file "hcid.conf" in /etc/bluetooth as suggest for older versions - Forums only told me so far that the mechanism has changed... but none knows how ;) ... passkey-agent is not installed on my machine]

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
