Not a true KDE 4 app

by jmiahman on: Oct 2 2008

Score 50%

This isn't a true KDE 4 app as you're still using DCOP and on KDE 4 environments unless certain KDE 3 depends are installed to supply dcop, dcop is replaced by dbus and is no longer supplied. To be safe you should rewrite the Amarok portion to use dbus calls. I don't want to have to install KDE 3 for this little Karamba/Plasmoid to be fully functional.

I agree. I used this previously with SK, but don't intend to take on the rest of the baggage just for this. Thanks to the author for his work, but hopefully he will update this for KDE4.

 Update for KDE4

I have written a couple of bash scripts for DBUS data retrieval from Amarok and am successfully using them with this. You can use and modify them at will.

Do you want them? How do I go about getting them to you?

 Pretty Good Widget

Yes, I like it (even if it is a bit too big for my taste) but I think it's a superkaramba theme, not a plasmoid binary...

I can't get it to show cpu temp. I have lm_sensors installed and set up cause I get the read out in terminal when I type sensos-detect.
mobo: 780i nvidia
cpu: q6600 (quad)

.

Thanks for information about amrok track. I will upgrade the script.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
