Description:

This plasmoid is a controller and a visualizer of informations about the songs for amarok 2.0.
It is quite, let's say, advanced compared with the "Now Playing" plasmoid. I have Kirocker as a model, so it works well even on a thin panel.
Currently it shows basilar info about the song, the cover image, the rating and other minor things, but I plan to add some other Things in the future.
Anyway if you have some feature request, please tell me!

Hope you enjoy it!

0.8
-added a lyrics extender item

 progress bar size

 by google01103 on: Jan 15 2009

Score 50%

2 suggestions/requests

1) the progress bar vertical size is constant no matter the size of the desktop plasmoid, can it be narrowed as are the other parts when resized?

2) the size seems to be set at a fixed 1:1 ratio can there be selected ratios or the plasmoid ratio set as it is resized?

thanks,

ok, so:

1) the size is not hardcoded, but I set a maximum height, so it should narrow itself when the size of the plasmoid is little. i'll investigate on this.

2)try pressing ctrl when you resize the plasmoid, it should allow you to change ratio. do you think anyway that i should change the default ratio?

re: default ratio as long as it's changeable (I didn't know about holding ctrl - now only if I remember it) the default is arbitrary and the developer's choice

other suggestions:
- not sure about the need for % in progress bar, you could put the played/total time there instead
-add max font
-add font color
-add font selector
-option to keep the controls small, instead of expanding with the plasmoid (maybe 2nd set of long and narrow)

Anyhow I think it's a good reinterpretation of Kirocker and thank you for your work

i'll see what i can do, but what do you mean whan you say "max font"? there is already a max font, that is set in systemsettings.

I think was because I didn't like the font sizes being selected when 'resize fonts' was selected and that max size would give me some control. Using the scroll options alleviates this but then I'd like to be able to still the fonts used when scrolled (I think it's a kde thing, if it can be imagined you should be able to customize it)

As I use the plasmoid more the only change that I think is really needed is that the progress bar width appears fixed and and when narrow sized it takes too much of the available space.

i still can't see your point: when you select "resize fonts" you can set the minimum font, not the maximum. you set the minimum font that is acceptable for reading; if the string still doesn't fit in the available space it'll start scrolling.
would you like to have an option to set the default font size, so you can have a font size different from the one set in systemsettings?

What about adding lyrics support? Take a look at my mockup:

http://www.fotosik.pl/pokaz_obrazek/pelny/8a09cfa016e1b6b4.html

There could be a button like for 'open amarok', but for 'show lyrics'. After click with a slide animation the lyrics dialog appear. Think about it. If the text is too long the scrollbar should appear.

sorry for my bad eng.

eh, i'd like so much to have the lyrics, but for now we must wait because amarok doesn't provide them trough dbus.
but i'm going to open a wishlist on bugs.kde.org about this.

Is there any possibility that you may add themes support for playwolf in the future? And what about song rating? Keep up the good work and i am sure playwolf could become KDE's Coversutra or maybe more :P

btw, what do you think a theme should customize?

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
