Could you please report this issue at http://developer.berlios.de/bugs/?group_id=769 and state what you did exactly, which server (OS) you wanted to connect to and how your LAN is organized? - Thanks.

 Integrate with Konq.

 by kwr2k on: Aug 31 2005

Score 50%

Hi,
I wonder why this great piece of software has not been integrated with Konqueror (file manager component)? Well, in a way it has been, but that is the horse before the cart actually.

Ideally one would like to see the SMB network tree appearing as part of "Network" sidbar tab of konqueror. Right now lan:/ and smb:/ both are not very satisfactory. Smb4k, otoh, is excellent.

I do feel some consolidation of projects -- or at least a larger sharing of code among projects -- will definitely help in a more user-friendly feel to KDE. Essentially if this can be done, Konqueror will be on par with, let's say, Xandros File Manager, which does seamless integration of SMB/CIFS networks in its file manager. It also happens to be a glorified konqueror anyways!

Best of Luck!

What about that?

GCC4 doesn't work with that anyway and with 3.3 i get that errors above.

Have you tried to compile Smb4K with GCC 3.4 which seems to have the same ABI as GCC 4? The Debian KDE maintainers use this compiler to compile KDE on arm, hppa and some other archs. Maybe this will help you.

Now it works. The reason could be the update to libc6 (Debian package) in the last few days.
I've tested it now with gcc 3.3 and 3.4 - works with all of them (of course not with 4.0)...
thanks anyway ;-)

New Output with 4.0 seems to be a KDE-Dev package error:
if /bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --tag=CXX --mode=compile g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../.. -I/usr/include/kde -I/usr/share/qt3/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT -D_REENTRANT -Wnon-virtual-dtor -Wno-long-long -Wundef -Wall -W -Wpointer-arith -Wwrite-strings -ansi -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -Wcast-align -Wconversion -Wchar-subscripts -O2 -Wformat-security -Wmissing-format-attribute -fno-exceptions -fno-check-new -fno-common -MT smb4kbookmarkeditor.lo -MD -MP -MF ".deps/smb4kbookmarkeditor.Tpo" -c -o smb4kbookmarkeditor.lo smb4kbookmarkeditor.cpp; \

You may compile Smb4K also with GCC 4, but you'll have to manually add the line

class KXMLGUIClient;

at the end of the forward declarations in /usr/include/kde/kactioncollection.h (i.e. below the entry "class KMainWindow;"). This is only necessary under Debian testing.

It seems that the development files of libc6 (glibc) are missing on your system. Please install them and recompile.

Thanks for the hint. A fix is included in CVS.
It's strange, however, that this bug never surfaced before...

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
