 Great app, but...

It's a really great app. The only thing that disappoints me is that the "Previous image" shortcut doesn't work :( (while "Next image" is working OK).

...a few niggles:

1. Why is a $HOME/.showimg folder created? This should really be in $KDEHOME/share/apps/showimg

2. Thumbnail code should use the same thumbnail directory as konqueror - currently $HOME/.thumbnails

3. When closing one of the docked windows, its not very clear on how these should be re-added. Perhaps and entry under settins, like the one for toolbars.

4. The list of image formats supported should come from KDE's image types - therefore when a new KImageIO plugin is added, then format is automatically supported.

5. The ".." in the thumbnail view doesn't seem to honour KDE's single/double click settings. Also, is this really required (its *not* very newbie friendly) - as there is the "up" arrow on the toolbar.

6. KDE, as from 3.2, uses the term "Folder" and not "Directory" - mainly du to the usage of pixmaps of "folders"

7. Album/directory "descriptions" don't seem to be saved.

8. why don't "albums" appear in the iconview?

9. You should register the ".sia" file format as a mimetype with KDE - and associate Showimg with this

...but overall, one of the best viewers I've used...

I have just try ShowImg 0.9.1. Well, ugly bug with nonworking "Previous Image" fixed. Mostly closed to ACD See and cool program. But, some bugs still presented:

1. When I don't use AutoZoom and press Zoom In, than "Next Image" and "Lock Zoom", next image will shown without locking zoom and previous image still will be visible (when next image small)

2. Folders in folder tree shouldn't have "Type" column or it should be switchable.

3. Previews in Preview pane should be auto-fit in window indepedently from fullscreen settings.

4. Mostly ugly bug - when folder has name like "#1" (I have quite big collection with folders #1, #2, etc.), all their contents qualified AS FOLDERS! But there are images, and preview pane show it, when pressed.

Well. But I thought that you're reading here more often. At 05.03.04 I have sent you a mail about ShowImg 0.9.0, but didn't receive any response, and decide to send a message here to attract your attention.

 Great APP!

Just wanted to leave a note here for people wondering about this app. Its quite good. I was a Acdsee user on Windows and I have just switched over to a fulltime linux desktop. This app is adaquate to replace Acdsee, and is superior to other imaging apps I have tried on linux (KDE specifically). Thats my two cents.

ditto. I have also just replaced gwenview with ShowImg. After being used to ACDSee, I had a hard time finding a Linux counterpart, until ShowImg. Thanks and keep up the great work!

The app is looking very polished now... the only thing I think that would be useful is a "Find Duplicates" where images of the same content, regardless of file name, can be hunted down (as per ACDSee on Wind'ohs).

Phil.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
