Minimum required   KDE 4.x
Downloads:  20222
Submitted:  Jan 5 2004
Updated:  Jan 1 2012

Description:

Krename offers an easy way to rename hundreds of files in one go, giving you as much freedom as you need. You can use parts of the old filename, information like the current date or even an mp3 tag or the colour depth of an image.

Krename integrates into the Konqueror or Krusader filemanager !

Changelog:

KRename 4.0.9 fixes a crash when starting KRename on Ubuntu, a compilation error in the PoDoFo plugin and updates the Czech translation. The release can be found as usual at http://www.krename.net .

 Compilation Failure

by domseichter on: Jan 24 2004

Score 50%

If KRename 2.9.0 does not compile for you and make exits with the following error:

batchrenamer.cpp: At global scope:
batchrenamer.cpp:821: error: cannot declare member function `static QString
BatchRenamer::buildFilename(fileentry*, bool)' to have static linkage
make[2]: *** [batchrenamer.o] Error 1

you can fix it easily by opening the file batchrenamer.cpp in your favorite text editor and removed the word "static" from this line:

static QString BatchRenamer::buildFilename( fileentry* entry, bool dir )

KRename should compile now for you.

 feature request

by wjarosz on: Apr 14 2004

I tried Krename a couple weeks back and it ended up not fullfilling my needs because it wouldn't allow me to start the number sequence at an arbitrary value. This seems like a crucial feature, as well as being about to specify the step amount. I ended up using the rename plugin for gwenview, forgot its name - maybe gwenrename.

In any case, this is really meant as a feature request. Hope it finds its way into a future version.

Hi,

KRename let's you of course define the value to start numbering at, as well as the step it uses. Just press the numbering button and you can configure every aspect of numbering you want.

Not really a feature request, perhaps more of a new app request. But it would be really nice to use the power of KRename with MP3 ID3 tags.

 Compilation Error

by DerHanseat on: Jul 20 2004

Score 50%

Just encountered this error when compiling Krename 3.0.1 on RedHat 8.0

/home//4install/krename-3.0.1/krename/kmylistbox.cpp: In constructor
`KMyListBox::KMyListBox(QWidget*, const char*, unsigned int)':
/home//4install/krename-3.0.1/krename/kmylistbox.cpp:70: `GroupBoxPanel' is
not a member of type `QFrame'
/home//4install/krename-3.0.1/krename/kmylistbox.cpp: In member function
`void KMyListBox::listerFinished()':
/home//4install/krename-3.0.1/krename/kmylistbox.cpp:179: `FilteredItems' is
not a member of type `KDirLister'
make[2]: *** [kmylistbox.o] Error 1
make[2]: Verlassen des Verzeichnisses Verzeichnis »/home//4install/krename-3.0.1-install/krename«
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Verlassen des Verzeichnisses Verzeichnis »/home//4install/krename-3.0.1-install«
make: *** [all] Error 2

Any idea what went wron in lines 70 and 179? My compiliation directory is different from the source directory, i.e. unpacked tarball is in krename-3.0.1 whereas installation occurs in krename-3.0.1-install. However, the error occurs also when compilation occurs in the same directory in which I unpacked the source tarball. -- TNX for ideas!
Der Hanseat

BTW: "Verlassen des Verzeichnisses Verzeichnis " means here something like "Quit the directory with the name ".

I'm sorry, KRename requires KDE 3.1 at least to compile.

I have compiled the tarball version to a RPM for Suse 9.2. I have tested on my Suse 9.2 and works fine.

See at http://home.tiscali.be/raoul/linux/download.htm
for the package krename-3.0.3rc2-suse92.i386.rpm

Thanks for the rpm. Could you drop me a mail if you built an rpm for KRename in the future? I do not always read the comments here :(. If I get noticed by email I can upload the rpm to KRenames webpage.

Thanks a lot!

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
