Minimum required   KDE 4.x
Downloads:  20225
Submitted:  Jan 5 2004
Updated:  Jan 1 2012

Description:

Krename offers an easy way to rename hundreds of files in one go, giving you as much freedom as you need. You can use parts of the old filename, information like the current date or even an mp3 tag or the colour depth of an image.

Krename integrates into the Konqueror or Krusader filemanager !

Changelog:

KRename 4.0.9 fixes a crash when starting KRename on Ubuntu, a compilation error in the PoDoFo plugin and updates the Czech translation. The release can be found as usual at http://www.krename.net .

 SPEED

i mostly use krename to rename say 20 pictures in konqueror. so i select them, rmb - actions - rename with krename. wonderfull, but the next dialogue can take up to 10 seconds on a AMD64 3000+ system! that really sucks... renaming is fast, yep, and the app is wonderfull - but the loading of the initial files is damn slow... :( i hope you guys can see where it stalls and fix it?

Hi,

I do already know what the problem is for the slow file adding. Sadly I am not sure wether this can be fixed with Qt 3.

As a workaround, it is much faster to give KRename one directory as argument than 10 files as arguments. So if all files you want to rename are in the same directory, just click on the dir and select rename with KRename from there. You'll see a much faster startup time of KRename.

 Plugins???

Krename is really a nice tool, but where are all the plugins? I'm still using 2.8.5 that was shipped with SuSE 9.1 because it has a large amount of plugins. I've tried several times to upgrade krename, but everytime the most plugins where lost. I assume the the Kfile-plugins where not loaded.

regards,

Hans

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
