 Multiple backends..

 by crazy on: May 18 2006

Score 50%

well
"* Multiple backends supported (GStreamer, xine, NMM, MAS, Helix and aRts)" kinda not true .. the _only_ free engine "does" work is 'xine' , you gusy killed everything else off.. so :
s/* Multiple backends supported (GStreamer, xine, NMM, MAS, Helix and aRts)/* Multiple backends supported (xine and Helix)/ . I really wonder why this release is called 'Fast Forward' ?!

 Collection gone

 by yggdrasil on: May 18 2006

Score 50%

I'm experiencing some severe problems after an upgrade to 1.4:

- My whole collection is gone
- All covers are gone
- AmaroK only imports playlists

In spite of all this the data in the mySQL database is still there. Rescanning my audiofile collection does not solve the problem. I did not change any program settings after upgrade.

i've got the same problem.
my collection is invisible.
when i play a file manually i can read the correct tags by right-clicking a file, the play counter, score etc is fine, but my context-field shows nothing, so does my collection-browser etc...
any ideas?

I solved it by creating a new database. Not the best way but hey it works. :)

thanks, but this solution is unsatisfiable after using amarok for a year with about 6 to 7000 mp3s..
i really don't want to start from the beginning.
i made a backup of the sqlite-database, build a new collection and will write again, if i find a solution to this mess that doesn't include downgrading to 1.3.*

 Compile errors

 by bitcrazy on: May 18 2006

Score 50%

Hi,
I've a lot of compile errors, due to overloaded functions:
./amarok/src/playlist.cpp:1202: error: call of overloaded ‘pow(int, unsigned int)’ is ambiguous
/usr/include/bits/mathcalls.h:154: note: candidates are: double pow(double, double)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:361: note: long double std::pow(long double, int)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:357: note: float std::pow(float, int)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:353: note: double std::pow(double, int)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:349: note: long double std::pow(long double, long double)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:345: note: float std::pow(float, float)
./amarok/src/playlist.cpp:1203: error: call of overloaded ‘pow(int, int)’ is ambiguous
/usr/include/bits/mathcalls.h:154: note: candidates are: double pow(double, double)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:361: note: long double std::pow(long double, int)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:357: note: float std::pow(float, int)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:353: note: double std::pow(double, int)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:349: note: long double std::pow(long double, long double)
/usr/include/c++/4.1.0/cmath:345: note: float std::pow(float, float)
./amarok/src/scancontroller.cpp: In member function ‘virtual bool ScanController::doJob()’:
./amarok/src/scancontroller.cpp:248: error: call of overloaded ‘sleep(int)’ is ambiguous
/usr/include/unistd.h:403: note: candidates are: unsigned int sleep(unsigned int)
/usr/lib/qt3/include/geddei/globals.h:24: note: void Geddei::sleep(uint)

And now I read from yggdrasil, that the whole collection is gone, like it was on every update of amarok. These are annoying things, i can accept on alpha or beta releases. But you've spent a lot of time (and nerves) on this project and the result is:
I will use the beta version, coz it's running with minor bugs (as wrote in the forum).

Sorry

Hi,
compiling works, due to my old patches and
the collection is still alive. So, redirect my previous statement to /dev/null. But take a look at this output of ps:
ds 4457 20.7 50.0 616012 518620 ? RLl 13:50 2:38 amarokapp. And I've still a busy cursor in the amarok window.

 Creative Jukebox sup

It would be perfect, if the mp3 Players of Creative (Jukebox, ...) would be detected too. There was a plan to realize it, wasn't it?

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
