 The little popup

by peacheskde on: May 24 2009

Hey the tooltip popup has a black border around it. Now with Air theme, it is out of place. Just curious if this hard coded or my theme is incomplete or set up incorrectly.

Hey when you start working on this again, I have a suggestion for the Tooltip popup: make the Close button highlight on mouse over. It will look great. ;)

Oh, and the Desktop Effects now has highlight application being hovered like I think Windows 7 Peek is what it's called. That could be quite cool. :)

Oh and put this on a SVN somewhere. I have a feeling this will around a while and get some great improvements over time!

Hi, I also have this problem, I think this comes from author using QWidget instead of native Plasma Dialog, so I made a patch to fix this. After using this patch, the border will become more bigger, I don't know how to fix this, but I think it doesn't effect most of use.

Just download the source of stasks, this patch is for 0.5.1

tar xvf ....
cd ...
patch -p0 < patchfilename

and just make it as usual.

The openSUSE KDE:KDE4:Community Repo's have for stasks the two patches already incorporated.

1) The black border
2) Extending to use all space available (like standard task bar)

Just include this repo and if you use Factory desktop (4.3 Beta 2) then you will automatically get the patched version

I don't know if someone mentioned that before but draging and droping applications to each desktop icons would be useful feature.

 Black border tooltip

by peacheskde on: Jun 1 2009

I figured out why I get black borders around my tooltips. They're not being composited. The second picture in the preview here looks like it's being composited with the background.

Anybody else have a problem with the tooltip background/border not being composited?

 Feature!!

by peacheskde on: Jun 1 2009

Score 50%

Hey consider this feature! :P

= A special configurable task item that can pop up a preview tooltip that shows every window from every desktop in a grid, one row for each desktop.

Then the staskbar can work well with option to show-only-current-desktop or even have a new option to show-none and just have this special task.

= Good space saver and quick access!

First, I just want to echo the sentiments of many other users here and say this is truly one of the best task managers I've ever used. There are two very small suggestions which I think, if implemented, would make STasks the best around period. (Sorry if either of these has already been suggested, but I'm too lazy to comb through ~30 pages of comments to find out. :) )

1) Add an option for a user-adjustable delay for expanding tasks. The expanding animation looks really cool, but as it currently stands, it practically makes the applet unusable for me as it's hard to land the mouse on the task I want.

2) Allow for dragging tasks to the desired desktop in the pager. This is one of the few small things I still miss from KDE 3. AFAIK, none of the Plasma task managers support this yet. Is it a limitation of Plasma?

Thanks for all your hard work on this excellent add-on to KDE. IMO, this should be the default task manager, as it gives a very distinct look to the desktop. I look forward to the next release. :D

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
