Mouse Cursor Icons Wrong

KDE - Apr 23 2013
answered
Question:Hi All.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction in fixing this. A little while ago I created the first left handed mouse cursor theme on kde-look by modifying the yellow dot theme.

This week while doing a clean install on my new system (LinuxMint 13) I look for my theme within the system settings>workspace appearance>cursor theme>get new theme window and its there and installs all ok so I am happy.

While using it though I see some cursors are not as I made them! I go back to the system settings window and I see the preview of the theme has these incorrect icons! Mostly the hand is incorrect and the question mark pointer is incorrect. They are not the icons I set for the theme and not the icons shown in the preview picture.

My original copy of the theme has the correct icons. When I go to the kde-look page and download the theme as a .gz file and install that the theme has the correct icons.

So the problem is only when installing a new theme via the system settings window. What is going on? Please help me fix this my theme is being mis-resresented here!

Thanks,
Cyclotron

Answer:I don't know if more people have experienced this but I almost always have trouble installing new cursor themes from the KDE system settings.

Most of the time it's just that the theme which just got downloaded and installed just doesn't appear in the list of cursor themes, then I open the get new themes again and get another one which then installs, appears and works just fine.

- Maybe what you're experiencing is the same kind of thing, that the system settings itself perhaps is a bit buggy.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
