KDE 4.1 Beta 1

KDE 4.1 Beta 1

By Yaba
Published: May 27 2008

KDE 4.1 Beta 1 has been released.

KDE 4.1 will be the first release targeted to end users and a lot of things have changed since KDE 4.0.x. Plasma received big improvements and KDE PIM is back as well.

See the screenshots in the announcement for a quick glance at the chances: http://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-4.1-beta1.php

 For end-users?

As far I have used KDE4, I'm waiting KDE 4.2 so if it would get most of good KDE3 options.

KDE team is doing great job but I always just have this feeling that they are more adding "bling bling" than usefull features. So it just takes time to have what users needs ;-)

If I just would know how to code, I would spend my time for adding features ;-)

KDE is made for users by users....
What can you give back to others?

Bling bling is what the micro$oft users see in vista and they think that it is the sign of a great technology advance (sorry for my english).
Bling bling is what they apreciate at the begining in her linux, because they have the possibility to personalize her desktop, it rapidly becomes a game for her. They taking pleasure with her linux, and that's what i absolutly want (i've installed so many linux after they saw compiz+screenlets+kxdocker+etc.. running on my demonstration's pc). We learn so better when we have the sensation to play...
A great thank's to all kde developpers for her GREAT work, kde4 is faster, purer as kde3... Your work helps the diffusion of linux.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
