Logo Contest at The Linux Box

By SeanParsons
Published: May 21 2004

If you'ld like a shot at fifty bucks for creating open source artwork, which is something many of you already do, you should seriously check this out.

The Linux Box is holding a multiphase contest to create a white box PC kit complete with marketing material. The Linux Box has already started accepting entries for the second phase, a logo contest. The logo should be submitted in a high resolution format such as *.png,  *.xcf, or *.svg (the only real requirement is that the logo be viewable with open source applications). The logo will be utilized in flyers, banner ads, videos and the logo will be turned into case pins to be included with the final PC kit.

Early entries for the Logo Contest will not be displayed till June 1st, and logo entries may be entered as late as June 14th. Voting for the Logo Contest will begin June 15, 2004.
  • First place in the Logo Contest will receive $50(US),
  • second will receive $25(US),
  • and third will receive honorable mention.
All logo submissions will be released under terms of the GPL.

You may submit your entries here.

Seems like you are affiliated with the project... Please fix the background of your pages. You do not set it to white and if the default background color of the browser is set to a different color, the pages do not look good.

Just a little totally off-topic comment ;-)

To mess up a Linux box, you need to work at it; to mess up your Windows box, you just need to work on it.

Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't used a color scheme with a dark background in awhile, and I had actually forgotten about that problem.

I have to run off to my day job now, so I'll finish fixing all the pages later today, but I took care of pages that this links to.

What about a penguin crammed in a box? It needs to be a happy penguin in the box of course. I am no artist and can't pull such a thing off.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
