On my system:
- Debian SID (XFree 4.2.0)
- Radeon 9500

The new ATI drivers will bomb out if the dri interface is enabled with a message refering to attempting to free a null pointer.

Hm, seems like there are only drivers for the desktop graphics chips. Drivers for mobile chips like Radeon Mobility 7500 are missing.

The Radeon drivers support all cards 8500 and above. The 7x series doens't make the cut but if you had a mobility 9000+ you could use them.

before I bork my X server... is there any chance of success with the notorious IGP340M chip? I just can't find any info for its corresponding desktop model to make a judgement for myself.

Hello..ok, I got the same problem. i got a IGP class video chipset on my HP laptop and the only way to get it to work right is with the LIBRANET distro (currently 2.8.1) is the only one that ID the chipset correctly. Don't despair if you don't want to get rid of your distro just go to www.libranet.org and in the support section you can find the link to download the drivers!!!

See ya later!!

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
