new advertising test

new advertising test

By Frank
Published: Nov 29 2007

Our community is growing fast. Our server is doing over 5TB traffic a month now and has reached its limit. So we have to invest in a second server.
We decided to do a test with a new and innovative advertising partner to collect the money for the server and the traffic. On some places on the site you may notice green underlined links. If you hover you mouse over the words you see a small layer with an advertisement. If you click on the ad we get a few cents. We choose this kind of ads because there are very undisturbing but also interessting and sometimes funny.
We hope that you support our test and click on an ad if you like it.

The good news is that our second server is nearly ready. You can expect a performance boost in the next few days.
Thank you for your understanding.

Cheers
Frank

Quote:
While the aim of the first development step was to touch as little existing source code as possible, the next step certainly will need a major rewrite of existing code portions.

opensource points to Live.com!!!

I perfectly understand the need for monetization...

Personally I don't like intellitxt, to me it looks like a sleazy way of advertising, but I already block it in Konqueror and Firefox so I had to use Opera to notice it.

It would be better if we could increase the corporate sponsorships, surely people like Novell and Trolltech should have an interest in keeping this sort of sites running...? I'd rather have a few permanent banners like the Linspire one than intellitxt.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
