my best system has 2 GB. for what it costs to buy a lot of RAM, i could buy more displays. IMO, not worth it.

 512Mb is enough

Personally I am satisfied with 512Mb. I don't know why a desktop PC would need 4 gb RAM (unless you are using winblows :) ).

It is not the size of the hammer that counts. It's how you wield it.

...or VMware ;-)

We heavily use it for software development in our company.

And if you have to run 2 instances in parallel with a complete OS and Oracle each, then 1 GB is still not enough.

To mess up a Linux box, you need to work at it; to mess up your Windows box, you just need to work on it.

I own 512 now, but an upgrade is urgently necessary, up to 1,5Gb. Bigger/More is better :P

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
