I'll second that as well. Kooldock just doesn't do it for me, the configuration and set up are just too cumbersome. Plus I enjoy my kicker applets :)

No, actually it sucked. Sucked a lot. Kudos to aseigo for taking out a crappy feature. It takes courage.

I haven't installed KDE 3.4 yet because it it's not yet in the Debian repositories. Is it really true - there's no more icon zooming in kicker? That's bad - really bad. It was such a great feature, I love it.

 Awesome!!!

by hvatum on: Mar 23 2005

I'm really impressed with KDE 3.4, it has a huge number of improvements. Combined with Xorg 6.8.2 we get real window shadows and full transparency - all controlled by KDE's compositing manager. It's pretty cool to have a video playing behind a transparent browser window!

The speed also seems much improved as is the default icon set. I would say the default look and feel is now on par with windows XP. There seem to be a number of minor changes to the interface which lend it more continuity also.

Come on. KDE 3.4 isn't that bad. Really!

Right-click on the titlebar of any window, select "Configure window behaviour" and locate the section called "Transculency".

Yeah, it works much better with nVidia hardware. But IMO composite extension will soon be replaced by something like this: http://www.gnome.org/~seth/blog/xshots

It's said it runs smooth even on the Intel's built-in graphics card.

I checked it out. Promising indeed, but I can not see any bright future about making that into KDE...

Yes please bring back icon zooming on the panel and bouncing icon under cursor and even device section on konqueror's side bar.
I have no idea about removing some good KDE features. If for performance this features can be optioanal.

The bouncing cursor and the device section are still there or what do you mean ?
I really love kde 3.4 and find it the best kde ever but can someone explain me why the icon zooming has been removed ? It was optional and turned off by default anyway.

Well, if 3.3 was so much better, than use it and report a bug. If others feel the same way, it might get into 3.4.(1,2,etc.) or 4.0.

I really hate that! Hope someone from gentoo fixes this and makes patch for 3.4 don't want to wait for 3.4.1

KDE 3.4 is not marked as "stable" at this very moment. Start complaining if they are marked as stable and Kopete keeps crashing.

Ok it is not stable in gentoo but it is not a rc nor a beta. Nevermind to complain about gentoo devs, It was more a wish that they patch it soon. (I'm sure they do!)

I just checked the CVS-commits on Kopete and I'm almost sure this problem is fixed for the next release. It's more difficult to create a patch, since this fix is quite big.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
