Too damned slow at drawing things to the screen and buggy. I'll take the more functional desktop please.

Its part of a disturbing trend: Make it look nice is number one priority. The trouble is it doesn't look nice. Not when you have to watch it being drawn. Sure grass is greener, but I don't want to watch it grow.

Wait for 4.5.x maybe, since 4.0.x is still beta quality. If it were better than beta there wouldn't a poll about it. Especially one with "Still too buggy for daily use" as an option.

>Too damn slow...

If you're using nvidia card it's nothing new. Look at their forum. Many people complain about very low 2D performance and it's nvidia fault not KDE4. Nvidia guys said that they'll fix low performance issues, but we're waiting for this more than half a year... If you want good KDE4 experience just use Intel.

I'm nvidia-based, but have no problems whatsoever... I'm a lucky one :)

It seems that it works fine with NVIDIA here. It's not slow at all, but I want skinable taskbars and other such features wich are not available on kde4 as of yet.

 KDE 3.5 pwnz KDE4

I'm gonna stick to version 3.5 up until version 4 gets the "Mac menubar (Desktop->Behavior->"Menubar at the top of the screen"->Current application menubar)".

I wait that KDE4.x has almost all functionality as KDE3.x. Mayby somewhere 4.3 or 4.4 version then...

well, i've downloaded and installed kde 4.0.74 for slackware 12.1 (with packages: http://kde4.rlworkman.net/source/ ), and i really enjoy the work, that had been done since 4.0... i'll use it now for everyday's work, though there are still some routine bugs

Well, I'm using the trunk for quite some time now (from pre 4.0), and while there were a couple issues that were distracting me from my daily work, it is all peachy at the moment...

 4.08* vs 3.5.6

by dovidhalevi on: Jun 1 2008

Score 50%

I use kde4 every day, it is stable enough for cautious use. Other family members I keep on my konstructed kde3.5.6.

It does NOT look better. Icons and their text labels underneath look much better in 3.5.6. The opaque (originally semi-opaque) backgrounds look awful and confining the text inside these means that either one needs huge icons or will not see much of the label.

Backwards functinal compatability is absent which to me is wrong. Let users move to newer plasmoids and widgets at their own pace as this stuff works better. The existing desktop should display similarly in both KDEs and work more or less the same (which it pretty much does with a little bit of hand-editing). The taskbar is still flakey and lags behind other components.

There is very much I like but some of the design and transition might have been given more thought.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
