I think it's downright ridiclous how many people to be a smooth talker this major release
kde4 is a neuter work environment from kde3 with a new api and sennseless desktop featueres that's make more problems but help and most usefull kde3 tools has been lost. for workstation operators it's unusable - bye bye kde

 Some missing things

This is the first usable version of KDE 4. However, there are some features I miss, like:
- update manager
- global shortcut to hibernate
- monitor settings are still not as good as in GNOME
- etc.

So, now I have both KDE 4.2 and GNOME installed, and if something doesn't work on KDE, I fall back.

 I'm Back

After one year with Gnome, I'm back again.
This is the first release that really works smooth and fast on my desktop. On my laptop however, things are not so good, due to my nvidia 8600 gt videocard. I'll hope this will be fixed soon

Which distribution? What have you done?

Maybe just selected KDE 3 from the login manager is enough?

Kubuntu 8.10 doesn't support KDE 3.5. So if you want to use it, you have to downgrade your system, which is only possible with reinstalling it. You can also install GNOME, which is faster than KDE, and you can still run your favourite KDE applications.

Or you can use an other distro which supports kde 3.5.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
